You forget sometimes that Manhattan is an island. Probably because, like us, you rarely leave it. Outer boroughs? What are those? Well, last weekend we hopped to another isle, Nantucket, to mix things up from the usual Hamptons tripping. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the brand newVolkswagen CC we were so generously loaned to make the drive to Hyannis, was the fresh meat to the island car we hopped around in while on ACK, also a VW. Two VW’s, islands away. Let’s take a look at the old and the new: More »

The Chicken Box is a Nantucket institution. It’s shamelessly grimy and crowded, but the best word to describe it is amazing. Legendary cover bands like Thunder Roads and Joshua Tree shut down the night after you’ve made the rounds: Trap, Gazebo, Straight Wharf and once upon a time *tear*, Schooners (for a fishbowl, obvi). If you’re lucky enough, Jimmy Buffet will stroll in and play an impromptu set. The drinks are strong and the prospects heavy. More »
Eagerly awaiting the onset of summer, sailors in 230 competing yachts descended upon Cape Cod last weekend to take part in the 38th Annual Figawi Race Weekend. A relatively prominent race, “The Figawi” attracted sailors from all around New England. The beloved fun race featured a Friday night kickoff ball at Hyannis Yacht Club and a 19-nautical-mile race from Hyannis, MA to Nantucket, MA on Saturday. More »
FROM hamptons.guestofaguest.com: I was lucky enough to enjoy laughs with friends and family on Nantucket. Nantucket Island, besides being its usual fabulous self, was celebrating the annual Figawi race, where sailors go from Hyannis to Nantucket. The race was named after a fictional tribe of nomads. It brings the Nantucket red, pinstripe wearing, Ralph modeling men out of the woodwork…More>>
Note from Editor: Summer is officially here, and, because I have a fear of winter like most kids have a fear of heights, I am pretty much an expert on Summer. I love Summer so much that I have contemplated naming my unborn daughter after it. And, if there’s one thing I know about Summer, it’s that it’s the time to drag out the weekends. Which is exactly what we are going to do… Below, Kerry Cassidy let’s us in on all things Nantucket.
Monday was memorial day, one of those holidays I’m not exactly sure what we are celebrating (I just learned cinqo de mayo does not mean tequila day), but I’m all for supporting/remembering our troups (hay hay USA). Memorial day also = everyone has off of work and has fabulous BBQs. Not only did I get to indulge in some sloppy BBQ’d food without spilling it on my white pants (that’s right ladies, Mem day is also the official day to break out those babies), but I was lucky enough to enjoy laughs with friends and family on Nantucket. Nantucket Island, besides its usual fabulosity, was celebrating the annual Figawi race, recognized as the top sailing race in the nation.
This West Coast chain just opened up on the UES and after getting voted by nymag as the best swimwear place we had to take a look. We approve, they have EVERY swimsuit you would EVER want to have to be forced to try on under those “feared unflattering flourescent lights”. You can even buy the Thomas Kors swimsuit that lalohan wore on the cover of Vanity Fair, though hopefully for your sake you will refrain from that temptation…
