It's already the end of January, but it seems like just yesterday the New Year had you reciting mantras of health and wellness and promising to switch to organic, locally-sourced quinoa. Have your ambitions of toned abs and daily protein shakes with super boosts dwindled since then as the couch and whatever new season of "Real Housewives of Hades" felt so much more inviting with life returning to normal? Maybe you need some new inspiration to hone your daily regimen goals. Or perhaps you're just curious about the latest ferkakte wellness fads Gwyneth swears by on her blog. Either way, we bring you five of L.A.'s best destinations to get in on the newest, and kookiest health and fitness trends. More»

Although we like to pretend that New Year's Resolutions are actually positive and hopeful, when you think about it, they really just force you to dwell on what you hate about yourself: your looks, your job, your life. So this New Year's, instead of beating ourselves up over stupid perfectionist resolutions, let's direct our loathing towards the awfulness that surrounds us every day, be it in advertising, pop culture, news, or modern life. ["Besides, introspection is for bitches."-Emily] With that, here are 10 things that reared their ugly heads this year we hope that 2012 will wipe from the face of the Earth, bringing us fresh choices which, while inevitably just as horrid, will at least be mercifully different. So New Year's happened. And the following day, you probably woke up with a splitting champagne headache, brushed the confetti out of your hair, found (or didn't find) your pants, and resolved then and there that you would make a sweeping lifestyle change. I went around asking for some New Years Resolutions from some in-the-know New Yorkers last week. I will be sharing with you their answers tomorrow but thought that famegame's Tatiana Platt came up with quite a resolution, one that deserved it's own post:"My New Year's Resolutions for 2009 are about being more inspired and taking wisdom from the amazing books I have read this last year:
#1 Trust my gut (Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell)#2 Live in the moment (The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle)
