Last night, Pratt Institute held its annual student runway show at Center 548, followed by a cocktail benefit at the Dream Hotel's Ph-D Rooftop Lounge. The fashion show featured original looks by Pratt's senior class and honored fashion industry big-shot Fern Mallis with the Pratt Institute Fashion Industry Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Calvin Klein. Former Italian model Giovanna Battaglia left her hometown of Milan and relocated to NYC early last year to work as a fashion editor for W magazine. Giovanna has been turning heads in Italy for years, and she's quickly becoming a fixture on many US street-style blogs like The Sartorialist and Jak and Jil -- but there's more to Giovanna than her inventive outfits. Though she's spoken about the difficulties of switching careers, she's managed to break away from her modeling past and make a real name for herself as a stylist and fashion editor, and now she's making a name for herself a New Yorker. From quick (and frequent) shopping trips to Barney's to a Welcome to NY party at Cipriani Downtown, Giovanna is learning the ins-and-outs of her new city. Click through to see what this style-icon has been up to since she's arrived in the USA. More»

We know we've talked about Russian it-girl Miroslava Duma before, but we just can't get enough! Miroslava has been laying low since the birth of her son in 2010, but she's resurfaced this year at Fashion Week with even more noteworthy looks. This style-star has a resume full of awesome writing gigs (Harpers Bazaar, Tatler, to name a few), but it's not her editorial prowess that keeps the blogs buzzing; it's her totally enviable wardrobe. The sartorial magnificence that is Miroslava Duma is almost unworldly, and she has a cult-like devotion of followers documenting her every outfit  (thank god). This street-style darling has been a fixture on the Moscow social scene for years, but she's quickly beginning to turn heads outside of the Eastern Bloc.

New York Fashion Week is just the first of several during Fashion Month, including London, Paris and Milan still to come. But this far in, it's easy to spot a number of trends emerging for fall/winter 2012. From optic prints to gorilla arms and everything in between - here's a sneak peak and what we'll all be wearing the coming season! More»

It goes without saying that Fashion Week is a showcase for the latest trends. It is the time when designers, buyers and fashion enthusiasts gather to decide what comes next for the industry. But the truth is that Fashion Week is as much about what people wear TO the shows, as it is about what they wear IN the shows. To find out more about what inspires the fashionable folk, I talked to Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs and other natty guests about where they shop and what they love.

After dozens of runways hows and umpteen presentations, Fashion Week has finally come to a close. For many in the industry, it can be exhausting to keep up the pace for all 7 (8, 9...) days of Fashion "Week." But what keeps us all going, is the excitement of seeing something new come down the runway - something new to covet, lust after and dream about until next fall. As the week wound down, I caught up with show-goers to reflect on the trends they've spotted - and what we can expect once the collections hit the shelves 6 months from now.

Before an afternoon at the tents, we started the morning at Pier 59 where Norma Kamali showed us that sometimes fashion can be flat... Show-goers mingled around larger-than-life cutouts of Kamali clad models, while a video of the girls dancing played on two walls. The fashion off-screen was just as exciting, and the well-dressed guests paused to dish on what they're craving for next season, as well as their favorite freebies of the week!

Valentine's Day at Lincoln Center was full of lovable style. Pops of red showed up everywhere - from dresses and shirts to scarves, bags and lips. In honor of this jour d'amour, I asked show goers what they planned to do to celebrate. From helicopter rides to spending it with mom, New Yorkers sure know how to spend a holiday. Check out what the tastemakers from Bergdorf Goodman are wearing, and the week's littlest and cutest fashionista!
