Yesterday, Nary Manivong held his formal presentation for Autumn/Winter 2009 at 442 West 49th Street and it was not only filled with crisp, primary-esque colors but with tons of loving fans of Nary as well. This Laotian-American designer is great at keeping it classy. His presentation had music by DJ Jesse Marco, showed off some off Kate Cusack’s cool ‘Zipper Jewlery‘ and was attended by people like Ally Hilfiger, Patrick McMullan, among more.

Wednesday night, Furla hosted a cocktail party at the New Museum to celebrate the young designers - as well as the one year anniversary - of their Talent Hub initiative. Talent Hub provides the opportunity for new innovators in fashion to showcase their own lines under the Furla brand name; the designers featured this year were Nicole Brundage, Courtney Crawford, Max Kibardin, and Marico (Alice and Lisa Ferrari).

Because her dresses are the perfect mix of Courreges, Cardin, and Mary Quant. Because they come in popsicle-bright hues. With huge, constrasting pockets. Because she makes circular, almost flat bags with punch-out handles. And fanny packs. Which is gutsy, if nothing else. Because everything about her line, its aesthetic, its colors, its sense of humor, make me happy, in a skipping-through-the-streets-to-the-tune of-Oh-Bla-Di, Oh-Bla-Da sort of way.
