At the brand new Casa Lever (scheduled to open this week), the director and starlette sat with Paper's Peter Davis and Mickey Boardman, the latter also celebrating his birthday. Diners including Madonna, Debbie Harry, Ruben and Isabel Toledo, Cynthia Rowley, Luigi Tadini and Patrick McMullan enjoyed a set menu including parmesan risotto and swordfish to fete the flick, which closed this year's New York Film Festival. Mariah Carey's role in "Precious" maybe almost as skimpy as the dress she wore to the New York Film Festival's screening, however, she certainly stole the show on the red carpet. Also starring in the film and shining on the red carpet were Paula Patton, Lenny Kravitz, and new-comer Gabourey Sidibe. Also, Harvey Keitel, Gayle King, Chyna Lane, Mary J. [All photos by JP PULLOS for PMc]. The 47th annual New York Film Festival is underway, opening on Friday with "Wild Grass" at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. Local Parker Posey and Mathieu Amalric (a well known French actor, in Julian Schnabel's Diving Bell and the Butterfly) came for this first showing on the calendar, the story of what events ripple from an ordinary purse snatching. Continuing through the 11th of October, the roster is one of two international events that the Film Society puts on each year, the other being New Directors/New Films. More»

Who knew that the farming world had a trend? Well, Mallory Sustick, a Brooklyn bartender, works like a dog to maintain, promote and advance the online farmer's market startup Plovgh that began after noticing a need for more local farm market distribution.
