Last night the likes of Karolina Kurkova, Carson Kressley, Harley Viera-Newton, Rose McGowan, Kerry Washington, Tinsley Mortimer , Zac Posen and Wyclef Jean filled The Mandarin Oriental in support of the eight annual spring dinner dance hosted by the friends of NYFC (New Yorkers For Children). Soigne K, the boutique known for its selection of accessories by Indian designers, served as the Presenting Sponsor for the event, while DJ Kiss kept the crowd moving for a good cause all night.
Bill Clinton and James Taylor wished Carnegie Hall a happy birthday, the New Yorkers for Children gala brought out the beautiful gowns, powerful women congratulated powerful women at Radio City Music Hall, 50 cent lent Harvey Weinstein some street cred, the literary elite remembered that NY is magical and more. Just this month, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the recession is probably over. This picture of a ready auction bidder at last night's New Yorkers for Children gala might be just the sign we needed to relax. New Yorkers like going out. We also like spending. Last night, two of the biggest names in the fashion world, Valentino and Vogue, held a cocktail party honoring New Yorkers for Children, an organization that supports young people in foster care in NYC. DJ Paul Sevigny was spinning as guests, including Erin Featherston, Geraldo Rivera, Erica Rivera, Tinsley Mortimer, Simon van Kempen, Alex McCord, and Kristian Laliberte, had the opportunity to shop with a portion of the proceeds going to New Yorker's for Children. In these troubling economic times, it's nice to see the social elite giving back to the community of New York.
