Hollywood nightclubs are a lot like domestic light beers. No, seriously, hear me out: just like the absurd ways that Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite try to top each other with bizarre and unnecessary packaging innovations (really? I need blue mountains to tell me when my beer is cold?), clubs will forever be trying to outdo one another with expensive laser displays and complicated bottle service procedure. That's why we're overjoyed that, aside from looking cool as all hell, Lure Hollywood (in the old Cabana Club space) did the one thing that really matters and snagged Grammy nominee Wolfgang Gartner to spin the hell out of their grand opening. Americans know Europeans are cooler and more sophisticated than them. They smoke. They sunbathe nude. They scarf down Nutella for breakfast but stay thin (because they smoke). But one Euro habit that Yanks and New Yorkers scoff at rather than emulate is clubbing. Will Sankeys and District 36, two "club clubs" coming to NYC this fall, change that? More»
Did you know we were a drama major in college? You didn't? Maybe that's because we're ashamed of it. Just now, though, we were flipping through pics of our turn as Silent Fairy Number 6 in"Midsummer Night's Dream," and we felt this hankering for some Shakespeare that only party photos could satisfy . . . Paul Sevigny tells the Times he doesn't understand the fuss about The Beatrice Inn's legacy. He's serenely glad about the opening of The Kenmare, but doesn't like those pesky taxis queuing up outside. Calling restaurant ownership "more livable" than nightclub ownership, he muses, "Maybe I'll retire and shape surboards."
Bonus: Chloe Sevigny has promised to design the waitress outfits, so hopefully they'll look like this:

Last night, Harper's Bazaar and The ONE Group hosted the opening of The Collective restaurant in the old One Little West 12th space. We definitely saw Jill Zarin cuddling with her husband, and we're pretty sure we saw Jaslene canoodling with a globe: More»
