Bridgehampton Polo officially kicked off Saturday afternoon with the Mercedes Benz Polo Challenge and will be making it’s way through everyone’s Hamptons social calendar for the next six Saturdays of summer. New Yorkers and East End regulars including Star Jones, Richard Johnson, Noah Tepperberg, Adrien Field, Douglas Marshall, The Zarin Family, Chace Crawford, Beth Ostrosky Stern, and many more stopped by the Blue Star Jet Field to cheer on the polo players during their opening day while socializing and fitting in photo ops, of course. Straight from our tip line, we have the exclusive on some HUGE NEWS: Marquee is closing!  They are apparently transferring it’s license from it’s 27th street outpost to the old Earth space.  Marquee, the flagship of the Strategic Group’s vast empire, has defined odds by not only helping create a neighborhood, but by sticking around for over 5 years!  (That’s like 95 years in club land!) Deemed at one point “the hottest club in the known universe” by the NY Post, Marquee has defied the odds and made it to its fifth anniversary. That’s five years of bottles (sometimes 20k!), models, celebs, and the largest taxicab gridlock this side of the Mississippi.  Embracing the externalities of Chelsea’s nightlife boom (of which they played no small part), their recent advertisement on taxicabs reads “MARQUEE, providing us with the longest cab lines for over 5 years”

The brainchild of Noah Tepperberg and Rich Thomas, Marquee led the wave of nightlife development on 27th street in Chelsea with Bungalow 8 that ushered in neighbors such as Cain, Pink Elephant, Home, and Guest House.  Alas, a revolution of brand name clubs were born.

Watch out Amy Sacco, Noah Tepperberg has just revealed exclusively to GofG that his sister, Judy Tepperberg who has been the behind the scenes boss at Marquee for the last 5 years, will be the face of the new den which will be a similar size and scope as Bungalow. The plans for the lounge/restaurant, which they would like to be in the old Earth Space on tenth avenue between 17th and 18th streets have been the source of loads of online rumblings.
