“I won’t shoot until 2AM sometimes,” he tells me straining his voice over the music “I’ll show up and just drink with everyone and become their friends. Then I’m that friend with the camera, not just a random photographer.” He grabs his Nikon D3 from a back room and heads to his friend’s table to shoot. Before he can get there, two gorgeous models lingering on the dance floor recognize him and immediately begin posing. He snaps a few photo’s, kisses them hello and makes his way through the crowd.

It’s just another night in the life of one of the most popular and committed photographers in the NYC club scene. In less than 3 years time Kirillwashere.com has become one of the most recognizable brands in nightlife. More»

We hung ten (ie sat down and drank coffee) with owner Josh Rosen. More»

We sat down with handbag designer Paige Gamble in the middle of a whirlwind of a busy season. With Whitney Port trotting out her Paige Gamble clutch with her Luca Luca gown at the 2009 CDFAs, trunk shows at Bergdorfs and Bendels, and the opening of a summer shop in the Hamptons, this designer has never been more in demand. In 2005, Gamble left her career in finance in New York City to create her own exotic leather handbag label. Her eponymous collection of one-of-a-kind clutches, totes and headpieces is most recognized now for her partnering of precious leathers such as alligator, stingray, anaconda, lizard, and crocodile with exotic gemstones and minerals from around the world... Kara Ackerman has been designing jewelry since her teens as a hobby, selling in upscale shops in East Hampton.  After her career in television she has gone back to jewelry and has decided to make jewelry design her primary career with Kara Creations Ltd. She is now part of a unique crowd of NYC jewelry designers re-inventing an industry.

You’re relatively new to our scene, why have you decided this is the time?
The collection has been in the making for a while now and sold privately to my clientele. I wanted to share with the public a collection of jewelry that is excellent quality, affordable, and wearable by every woman who feels beautiful when wearing a piece of unique jewelry. More»

Marlo HunterArtistic director, Marlo Hunter, created "Eating Their Words" for one simple reason: to satiate her mutual love for theater, and eating really good food.  "She wanted to see what would happen if she stirred them together."  Her stage is the dinner table itself, the audience sits at tables surrounding the actors. Jesse sat down with Marlo to get the scoop on what it's like to recreated the dinner theater...literally.

Why do you hate the term “dinner theatre”? And what are the common misconceptions of New Yorkers?
The term “Dinner Theater” immediately calls to mind a space in the middle of Ohio (sorry, Ohio), where people dine on mediocre to bad food while watching a revival of an over-produced musical. Eating Their Words could not be farther from this in any way. More»

Ultragrrrl is an ultra-smash on the dance floor. DJing only music she "loves" the old fashioned way (aka with CD players) she has accumulated an eclectic night life following. Watch for this grrrl pumping beats everywhere from weddings to the hottest clubs. A new face to give DJ Nick Cohen and DJ Mess Kid some competition. We wanted to get a look into who Ultragrrrl is in real life...

I think that most people know that you are a local, raised in Tenafly, NJ, and that you are often described as Jewish-Egyptian. But what is your musical geneology or heritage, i.e. what do you remember hearing while you were growing up?
I come from a family of very independent thinkers. My brother's rarely agreed on music and my parents never listened to anything popular, so I was always around so many different genres. I could go from dancing to Madonna in my oldest brother Albert's room to hearing Echo & The Bunnymen coming from my brother Lawrence's room to riding in the car with my mother as she listened to her Arabic music tapes and lots of Claude Francoise.
