NYC Nightlife
All posts related to NYC Nightlife on Guest of a Guest for NYC Nightlife.
This awesome New York Times picture shows a Bowery Barroom from 1905 (a mere 103 years before Guest of a Guest took up residence on the street). Don’t you wish places like this still existed? Besides the weird lack of women and bar stools, this locale, with its cast-iron light fixtures and elegant wood paneling would be a nice change from the poster-ridden dive bars of today. Yesterday, we posted a listing for a bar on the Bowery for rent. We have a proposition for you, intrepid reader… More»

The big story in tomorrow’s city elections is the David and Goliath non-battle between Mike Bloomberg and Bill Thompson. But nightlife lovers invested in New York’s nocturnal future should pay attention to a host of names on the bottom half of the ballot for candidates endorsed by the good folks of the Nightlife Preservation Committee… More»
[Photo via Getty] Bowery Hotel Bar, Waverly Inn, The Spotted Pig, yeah yeah yeah… You know what this city really needs? A burger bar.
Munich already has one, the newly opened ‘BK Whopper Bar“. Munich. They are allowed to have better beer, cars, and soccer teams. They are not allowed to have better Burger King restaurants than us. The Whopper Bar is a place where you can “indulge your flame-broiled passion in a crisp, modern, uber-chic bar setting”. That’s great, cause, while Bar Blanc, for instance, is crisp and modern, it doesn’t really provide an outlet for my flame-broiled passion. See? We NEED this here. More»
Pink Elephant is BAAACK! Where did they go? you ask–well nowhere really, but the photo documentation has been MIA, until now. And if there’s no photos of the party, did it ever actually even happen? Today we got our Pink Elephant fever back as we checked in on the site and discovered 15 glorious new albums of debauchery to feast our eyes on. A quick run through turned up this guy, who has clearly just spent the best $2k of his life….

I have friends who frequent the insanity that is Webster Hall’s weekly raves and sometimes encourage me to join. But I usually politely decline, for fear of things like the duo pictured here, captured at the “Girls & Boys” party this weekend. I don’t know what’s more terrifying, this Marc Almond doppelganger or the gentleman to his left who has clearly consumed more than one mind-altering substance and is now having a metamorphosis akin to that freaky bug from Men in Black (this guy). With our city well into the recession, it’s time to take another look about how it is affecting our city’s nightlife. Many people I’ve discussed this topic with (including Steve Lewis 5 minutes ago), tend to think that we are on the VERGE of the next wave of decent nightlife. Marc Jacobs has even caught the trend, channeling the good old ’80s at his show yesterday, a time of bold fashion statements and even bolder parties and venues. “The party last night at Greenhouse (The Tracy Reese after party) was insane. It was cool, sexy and fresh. People everywhere are out again, I feel like the clubs are finally becoming “cool” again, like I’m back in 1985.” Exclaims Steve. But what does this recession really mean? More»

When he’s not boozing around the office during the day, he’s macking on the girls at night! Yep, you guessed it, Mr. Pink Elephant, after putting in a long day at the office last Friday, made another semi-rare appearance at his nightclub. The effect was obvious. He certainly got his guests feeling more exclusive and ready to party than ever!

[The Barack Obama mural at 1 Oak that is now hanging above the previous bull canvas]
While not a museum, 1 Oak’s latest eye-catching mural of our 44th President and its placement (over their quintessential bull photo (below), shows the hip trend of Obama and how he has really struck a chord with the youth. Can you think of any other modern day president that would have gotten a mural in a nightclub?

What do you get when you mix some bohemian girls and boys and a whole lot of alcohol? Insanity. Webster Hall plays host to a weekly “Girls & Boys” party every Wednesday night, and things tend to get a little crazy. Thankfully, Nicky Digital is usually there to capture the hipsters on film. Here are some of our favorites from last week’s party with the debut of the Valerie Collective featuring College, Anoraak, Russ Chimes, Lovelock, Dave P, JDH and more!
