Because Snoop Dogg and weed go together like bagels and cream cheese, one should never express too much surprise when hearing that The Doggfather has been arrested, usually at an airport, for trying to board a flight weighed down with the sticky icky. So please save your questions for the end when I tell you that, yet again today, Snoop was stopped at customs in Norway with eight grams of bud, which if my memory (unless my mom is reading this, in which case my research) serves me is a pretty hefty quarter-bag. Let's take a look at where this latest incident falls in the pantheon of Snoop arrests. More»

When I was younger, it seemed like the radio station mega-concert was the coolest thing on the planet. Nowadays you can't throw a bottle of $1,500 champagne in a New York nightclub without hitting a Coachella, EDC, or Bonnaroo, but back in the day, festivals like that only happened once in a blue moon (who remembers Woodstock '94?). So instead, we went to one-day, local radio sponsored concerts in sports stadiums with vaguely nonsensical names like the "River Rave". Well, it's a brave new world (with far superior festivals) these days, but not every radio station is ready to give up just yet. And if the new versions of those old radio station shows can still provide the talent like Power 106's PowerHouse, there's still hope for the classic radio station show yet. More»

Was Van Halen's Saturday show at the Staples Center the last time we'll ever see them in L.A.? It's certainly a possibility. After all, they've already cancelled the majority of their gigantic summer reunion tour amid rumors that the famously dysfunctional hard rockers were feuding again (this week's shows in L.A., Anaheim and San Diego were among the last to be spared). Well, if it's the end, at least it was a pretty bitchin' end, as our photos from the Staples gig (and a few snapshots from last night at the Honda Center) prove.  More»

via la.guestofaguest.com: I'm going to be out of town this weekend, but that doesn't mean I don't mourn the death of Sunset Junction almost as much as those of you who were planning to be there. It's not because I believe community is important, or because I really want you guys to have a good time, only simply because street fairs and music festivals are a phenomenal source of colorful characters. I'm going to be out of town this weekend, but that doesn't mean I don't mourn the death of Sunset Junction almost as much as those of you who were planning to be there. And I say that not because I believe community is important, or because I really want you guys to have a good time, or anything suspiciously selfless like that. I say it because street fairs and music festivals are a phenomenal source of weirdos and colorful characters. More»

The stores may have all their fall merch on display but as long as dudes are fully-manking and we're day drinking outside, it's still summer for us. And music fest season isn't over either, guys! Sunset Strip Music Fest starts today, Mad Decent Block party is Saturday, and over the weekend we hit up Pacific Festival 2011 in OC where we caught some stellar shows by artists like Cut Copy and Snoop and bumped into some familiar faces who also ventured to the other side of the Orange Curtain for the day. As I sat in a bar last night, no choice but to watch the 2011 X Games, I found myself thinking about just why I feel so negatively towards the whole "extreme sports" thing. It's not that I can't appreciate a death-defying bike stunt; when the guys were actually launching themselves off 25-foot ramps, I was adequately entertained. More»

The 10 Freeway. Universally beloved, right? Whether you're stop-and-go'ing it all the way to Dodger Stadium (I know, bad example, who goes to Dodger games anymore?) or sitting at a standstill under one of many scenic overpasses, praying The Big One doesn't hit, can you think of a possible better time?
