Paris Fashion Week

One can assume that people arrived at this party as fairly normal, well-behaved people, full of crepes or boeuf bourguignon or whatever they’re eating in France nowadays. They probably danced a little, and smoked their cigarettes inside as the French are wont to do. And then, in the photo at left, The Misshapes Leigh Lezark apparently decided to forgo shots (too ineffective) and squeeze a lime directly into an entire bottle of tequila. This, effectively, was the beginning of a VERY long night in Paris. As you look through the pictures, pay special attention to the girl on the right. Her progression throughout the night, is, shall we say, epic. More»
After tearing up Central Park Summer Stage and SPiN, Phoenix did a few more US tour dates, frequented the early season episodes of Gossip Girl’s soundtrack, and then landed back home in the City of Lights. With dates in Montpellier, Lyon, Lille and Bordeaux among the stops; the group is really enjoying their tour du pays. Coming off the high of Fashion Week, the Parisians were more than ready to embrace the popular band, some even moved to make out in the French fashion. More»
Nicolas Ghesquiere (as always) hit another grand slam this Paris Fashion Week, receiving rave reviews for both the Balenciaga and Balmain collections he designed. Interestingly enough, the designer was M.I.A. at the Balenciaga afterparty at Le Baron, where guests like Alexander Wang, Hamish Bowles, Harley Viera-Newton, and Leigh Lezark were anxiously awaiting his arrival. For those of us who couldn’t make it to Paris Fashion Week, those who could wanted to torture us a little more by throwing a lavish bash entitled “New York, New York” at the Le Regine, in honor of our great city, and made sure to party into the wee hours of the night. Hosted by Paul Sevigny, fashion’s favorite Derek Blasberg, Archetype Showroom’s Steven Rojas, the Misshapes, and Tommy Saleh, things got a little rowdy as you can see from the pictures. More photos and story below… More»
It appears as though sequined heart pasties, Emmanuel Ungaro, and Lindsay Lohan does not a successful fashion collaboration make. Before LaLohan could even step one foot into a Paris Fashion Week after party, the media was lit up with reviews. Bad ones. According to the sidelines, Lindsay Lohan’s role as “artistic adviser” alongside Ungaro head designer Estrella Archs was nothing shy of a complete disaster… More»
Jean-Paul Gaultier Presents A Decadent Show For Paris Fashion Week; PETA Definitely Will Not Approve
[All photos by Getty Images] Jean-Paul Gaultier is definitely going to be on animal rights organization PETA’s naughty list, but the Autumn/Winter Haute Couture collection he presented yesterday in Paris was striking nonetheless. Gaultier’s styles evoked old school glamour and decadence with a touch of edginess, but we expect PETA will complain about his liberal use of fur, leather, and even dyed crocodile skin. Gaultier himself even came out on the runway eating a chocolate ice cream popsicle- More»

Just when you think you can’t hold out until the shows this September, along comes haute couture fashion weeks in the warm summer season, bigger and bolder than ever. Whether it be Berlin or Paris, unlike their American counterparts, these haute couture shows aren’t scared of a little chiffon and a lot of feathers, a puff-sleeved or two, and hats and bows so big you barely need the clothes to go with them.
