L.A. has deeply missed the presence of Andre Saraiva and his very special touch of no frills nightlife since the golden era of debauchery that Paul & Andre fostered during its tenure on Hollywood and Cosmo. Therefore, last week's one-night only Chez Andre pop-up party was not to be missed. After a successful run in NYC, Ana Calderon, Mickey Madden, Myles Hendrik, Wade Crescent, Dan Regan and Cody Allen helped Saraiva bring his party to town at The Standard Hollywood's mmhmmm (formerly Smoke & Mirrors) for a late night of naughty behavior. A mix of actresses like Christa B. Allen and Ashley Madekwe, musicians, DJs like Mia Moretti and others joined an elite group of L.A. night crawlers and hard partiers for the Chez Andre Los Angeles edition and as you can see from the following photos by Steven Meiers, it was one for the books.

Keeping up with the fast-paced merry-go-round cycle of L.A.'s fickle nightlife landscape is a duty we take full responsibility for so that you don't have to. Just staying current on the whole Paul & Andre/Smoke & Mirrors arrivals, soft openings, relocations, and abrupt closures saga was in itself as exhausting as watching an episode of "The Newsroom." From the beach to the middle of Hollywood, here's a look at the openings of summer's most noteworthy new nightlife destinations: More»

As we first reported yesterday, Smoke & Mirrors as we know it—the dark, minimalist cavern and jaded scenester retreat at The Standard Hollywood—is no more as of Monday night. Or at least not there anymore. A trusted insider tipped us off that the exclusive late-night haunt with what many would consider the toughest door in L.A. located in the middle of the type of Sunset Strip nonsense it was created precisely to avoid will no longer occupy the former Purple Lounge space in the hotel. Last night, Paul Sevigny and Armin Amiri's anything goes (except photography!) nightclub abruptly "relocated" to Room 86, the former Paul & Andre space which marked Sevigny and Andre Saraiva's first foray onto the L.A. scene. Ashley Madekwe

Though we've seen her around before and even snapped her getting her late-night Paul & Andre on last month, it wasn't until yesterday when we stumbled upon her winning look of looks Monday night that we took an interest in what else this lady's been strutting around in and hit the Google machine. Meet our new favorite dresser, Ashley Madekwe, actress, noted style blogger and Tyler Shields' latest muse. He tells us, "she's awesome." I knew we liked her... More»

Are you worried about the future of Room 86 now that it's not Paul & Andre anymore? We would advise you not to be. After all, not only did we throw down our epic Halloween rager there last weekend, but last Friday, they followed it up with the third installment of DETAILS@Midnight, a celeb-studded, invitation only late night rock-out that has featured Theophilus London and Kid Cudi in previous installments. This week's secret musical guest? A man best known for naming his child "Bronx." More»

The "new Paul & Andre spot" opens for business tonight, called Smoke & Mirrors, except there's no Andre in the equation, only Paul. And yes, it is indeed in the old Purple Lounge of The Standard Hollywood space. I'll say that again: that "new P&A spot" has taken the place of the long forlorn Purple freaking Lounge at The Standard. MORE>>

We've been sitting on this story for months for political reasons but it's time to let the cat out of the bag, officially, since that "new Paul & Andre spot" people have been running their loose lips about all over town (and fingertips on personal blogs) opens for business tonight. Except, with this new one, called Smoke & Mirrors, there's no Andre in the equation, only Paul. And yes, it is indeed in the old Purple Lounge of The Standard Hollywood space. I'll say that again: that "new P&A spot" has taken the place of the long forlorn Purple freaking Lounge at The Standard. So what is the meaning of this and why does it matter? More»

GofG Team LA got up close and personal with Cut Copy at the after party for the Cut Copy show at the Hollywood Palladium. Front man Dan Whitford gave some love to our GofG'ers out east. Check out this interaction and more from the live show. MORE>>>

  • According to witnesses, Mark Zuckerberg and Sean Parker got into a heated screaming match outside The Beverly over the Facebook-Spotify partnership recently (probably the same weekend they were spotted at Paul & Andre?), but Parker made sure to leave a $5,000 tip before leaving the club. Nerd drama! [Post]

No seriously, we did. Front man Dan Whitford fully put his arm around Desiree last night at the band's after party for their show at the Hollywood Palladium, and we have a photo to prove it. As you may already know, we are huge fans of Cut Copy so this is kind of a big deal. More»

Last week, I had the utmost pleasure of speaking to Gabriel Andruzzi and Vito Roccoforte of The Rapture at the 2nd Annual FILTER Magazine Culture Collide Festival in Echo Park. The band and I talk success, music business and the late DJ Mehdi. The Rapture is currently on tour to support their fourth studio album, In the Grace of Your Love, and put on a stellar performance at the Music Box in Hollywood last Thursday, followed by a DJ set at their official after party at Paul & Andre.
