PM Nightclub

Back in March we ran a piece on actor/clubber Mickey Rourke and how he hooked up a group of his NYC nightlife buddies with parts in The Wrestler.  These guys of course are doormen at select Rourke haunts in the city (namely 1 Oak and Cipriani Sundays), and happen to also be budding actors (Though Wass Stevens has definitely gained a lot of traction over the years pre-Wrestler).

From our tip box: Holy Moly! Just when we thought it'd be YEARS before we'd see another club opening up in this recession, we finally get the full story about PM's resurrection in Meatpacking (50 Gansevort), a rumor we've been hearing for weeks. It's happening.  And here's what we know:

Name: Set to be called "Griffin"
Team: Owners Adam Hock (on PM's lease and also of Hawaiin Tropic Zone Fame) and Chris Reda (owner of Room Service and Cheetah).
Director of VIP Services: Rachel Uchitel (Pink Elephant, Dune)
Pavan Parnasani- somehow involved (he's also working with 1Oak guys and Pink)

With the Saturday brunches breathing life back into the Meatpacking District, it will be interesting to see what Griffin can do to the post 7pm life down in the cobblestone shitshow.

Update: Other partners include Steve Davidovici and Manny Delzar.  Josh Kasier is Director of Operations, Cocktail program is from people behind Milk & Honey/Little Branch, and apparently Pavan Parnasani has no involvement.

Mickey Rourke

Its been several years now and perhaps some of the novelty has worn off, but the party sure hasn]t.  And neither has the constant flow of beautiful woman.  Cips (as we like to call it for short) is still going strong on Sundays, and the karaoke is as good as ever.  Heck, even Mickey Rourke thinks so!

The promoters from the old PM (Francois Alexander, Unik, Aramis, etc.) who started the party are still regular fixtures on the microphone belting away tunes.  Sometimes its a little hard to get them to part ways with the mic, but with enough persistence you can usually get a song in at some point in the night.  And don"t worry, if you aren't a very good singer there is enough reverb on the mic that you won't make a total fool of yourself and sound like Britney Spears without a lip-synching CD!
