[James Gager, Marilyn Minter, Photo by DAVID X PRUTTING for PMc] True to our word, GofG follows through with our second installment to the MAC Cosmetics celebration held last night. This time, we’re taking a jaunt through the Marilyn Minter Studio, rubbing elbows with the fantastically well-done faces. More»
While most people in the fashion industry are eager for any form of publicity they can scrounge up, this certainly does not ring true for Britt Aboutaleb, the associate editor for Fashionista.com, the style website with the cult-like following. When a picture of the 24 year-old popped up on Altamira only months ago, the responses, while all positive, were ones of “Oh, that’s what she looks like!”. And her PMc count remains at a low 5 pictures, despite the countless events she attends every week for her high profile job. So why does the adorable young editor shroud herself in an air of mystery? It’s certainly not due to a lack of style. Nor a lack of shyness - Fashionista.com is known for their “Life With” feature, an interview section of their site that takes an in-depth look at professionals and individuals involved in the fashion industry, with each lengthy one-on-one usually conducted by Britt. So why the hide-out? More»
Derek Blasberg Invents New Word “Jain,” And Gets All Of The Socials Using It In Their Ever Expansive Vocabularies
[Photo via Style.com] You might think what Derek Blasberg does best is galloping around town, serving as a contributer to top fashion publications like Vogue, and churning out Blasblog, his column on Style.com. But it looks like his true talent might lie in creating the latest socialite slang. After the word “jain” started popping up on Twitter accounts like @theLSD (Lauren Santo Domingo), @ByrdieBell, and @dizzyblazeberg (Derek’s own) a few months ago, just to name a few, we started to wonder what this term meant. Used in a similiar way as “fetch”, the word Gretchen Weiners tried to make desperately happen to no prevail in Mean Girls, “jain” seemed to mean cool, great, awesome, but… not quite….
It’s time to play “Picking At PMC.” Here’s my top pics today:
- Andrew and Andrew: These two goofballs were all fun and games at the Whitney Art Gala. I don’t know either ones last name but their first names could be “fun” and “funner”.
- Tommy Hilfiger and Mets catcher Brian Schneider: At Autism Awareness Day at Shea Stadium. With his bright orange polo and jeans, and a big THUMBS UP, I don’t know if I’ve seen Mr. Hilfiger any cuter than this.
- Lisa Falcone: At MoMa’s 14th Annual Garden Party. I know it was a while ago, but how could I not? The girl took a risk. And, whether you love it or hate it, I applaud risk takers!
PMC aka patrickmcmullan.com is a site that can, in many ways, be compared with World of Warcraft. Either you have heard of it and you are obsessed with it, or you have no idea what it is and don’t really care to find out. For 99% of the people in this city that work in the following industries: fashion, pr, media, beauty, and advertising, PMC is where it’s at. Just ask NY social diary, or Park Avenue Peerage, or any social magazine for that matter, who have all made their business off of taking Pat’s photos.

“Life is a banquet and most poor son of a bitches are starving to death.” - Auntie Mame
Last night we sampled the banquet that is New York nightlife, and we ate so much we nearly puked. We started the night at the Children’s Rights Foundation’s Annual Event. Our good friend Greg Link was one of the nights’ hosts and the event was sponsored by Lucky Magazine at the Blue & Cream store on Bowery. We were thrilled to see (tiny) Tim Garcia and meet the current Miss USA, Colorado native, Hilary Carol Cruz. After checking out the store and the cute crowd, we grabbed a gift bag and were out the door.
Our next stop was a few blocks away so we strolled on over to Club 205 for Richie Rich’s “Rox and Riley” Footwear Launch Party hosted by Andy Hilfiger and Lydia Hearst… More»

Crack out ya calendars kids, there is a lot to do this week! First on the Itinerary: THEORY sample sale Tuesday-Friday at SSS Sample Sales (261 w. 36th st, 2nd floor). Theory is the BEST line for blazers, simple suits and work wear that can hold up through a night out. Later on Tuesday, crack out that cute little number you just bought and head to Johnny Utah’s on west 51st to celebrate Chris Coffee’s 25 years young celebration! The party will be hosted by none other than Richie Ri$h, former ‘Club Kid’ and creator of Heatherette Clothing! The door will be tight, so be on time (around 10pm) or just say you’re one of my ‘pluses’, seeing as I RSVPd extras just in case!

Ever been in a room full of people you’re sure are fabulous but whom you don’t actually recognize? We were, last night at Blackbook Magazine’s May issue bash, held at the “First you need to get in. Then you need to be cool enough to get a table. Then you can get bottles” glory that is 1 Oak. Somehow we got in that door and, later, into a cushy banquette next to our lovely chum Model Behavior. First though, we ran into the ever dapper Single Threat, who was able to give us the down-low (low-down? no doubt) re the buffed and de-puffed cognescetti getting their Skky-fueled freak on to the Beatles and Britney.
