We're lucky to have so many well-informed friends! This landed in our inbox, a great last-minute guide, which we were thinking of putting together ourselves, but our friends at BrooklynRoyalty did such a good job, we'll just show you theirs:

Last-Minute Voting Tips:

  1. Make sure you are registered to vote at your current address, canivote.org (a non-partisan resource)
  2. Find out where your polling place is- HERE
  3. Find out what ID you'll need when you go to cast your ballot: More»

Okay guys, maybe you've made up your minds, maybe you haven't.  But tonight's probably the last time we have a chance to hear both of the candidates together, speaking in more than 30-second bites, till the election (excepting Obama's pre-empting Knight Rider on the 29th).  So we urge you to grab a few friends and watch tonight, at home or at one of the below gatherings.  And for Emily Brill's political preferences click here.

Following up on our earlier call to voting action, AMNY and NYMag have other debate parties going on tonight:

Crocodile Lounge: (325 E. 14th St. in Manhattan) This Obama-friendly debate party is sponsored by Three Sheets to the West Wing, a group raffling off Obama paraphernalia to raise money for the campaign. Co-sponsor Heineken is offering free beer from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Pacific Standard: (82 4th Ave. in Brooklyn) This Park Slope bar shows all the debates on large projection screens and features beer specials and a political brew named Hop Obama. More»

It's October, and we are in the homestretch of the election season. As we've said before, it's important that we all get out and vote, in the Presidential race, but also in the Congressional and other local races. There are questions to be asked, and answered, by our elected officials, whatever their political stripe. There are opportunities all over the city to get your vote on and your party on.

  • Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century will be hosting a VP debate party at Tonic. Doors Open at 7pm; admission is free for members, $10-non-members. RSVP here.
  • The NYC Young Republicans will be meeting up at Jake's Saloon 9th Ave. at 8pm. RSVP here. More»

Kevin Powell[Image via usg.edu]

Community leader, political activist, and nationally celebrated author, Kevin Powell, held his highly anticipated fundraiser last night at Eugene’s on 24 Street in Manhattan. This event supported Kevin’s bid for Congress in Brooklyn’s 10th Congressional District and raised over 75k.

This Wednesday brought out a crowd of 700 including celebrities, local Brooklyn and Manhattan residents, politicians and a slew of media supporters and inquirers. The event consisted of 3 plus hours of non-stop music and politicking with music provided by Celebrity DJ and Philanthropist, Beverly Bond, along with DJ Reborn. More»

obama beer tourSo, it looks like as of right now the Democrats might have a leg up in fun-ness. The “Barack Crawl” is taking place in the East Village--$20 dollar donation gives you two free drink tickets, a button, and a slew of drink deals. The event starts tonight from 7-8PM at D.B.A. then travels to Arrow Bar to Ace Bar to Mama’s Bar. Now, technically in the group your supposed to raise awareness of the campaign, but it also says you can raise merriment, so stick to whichever end you feel more comfortable with.
