Toledo, who achieved celebrity with Michelle Obama's selection of her dress and coat ensemble for Inauguration Day, wore white against her husband Reuben's black suit as the pair greeted guests. Yigal Azrouel, Betsey Johnson, Fabiola Beracasa, Matthew Modine, Ted Allen, Simon Doonan, Mauricio Padilha, Phillipe Blond, Lydia Fenet, Mary Giuliani, Jack Kennedy, Austin Scarlett, Chadwick Bell, Vanessa Webster, David Grunning and many others came out to show off their fashion chops.
We've had our eyes on Isabel Toledo way before Michelle Obama did. Check out all of our posts on the lovely designer: More»

Everyone that's anyone not only watched our 44th president being sworn into office, but attended one of the hundreds of inaugural balls around the country. Perhaps the one of the more star-powered was that of the sold-out ball by The Creative Coalition (in joint effort with Pepsi) held at the Harman Center for the Arts in DC. The CC was founded in 1989 by people like Alec Baldwin, (the late) Christopher Reeve, and Susan Sarandon among others.

New York City media parties are much more cliquey than even the socialite affairs, as I am quickly learning. There's the techies, the bloggers, the print writers, and more. I asked at least three writers last night to do a recap of the inauguration party that the NY Times threw at The New Museum for me, but alas they are all most likely still in bed. So, instead of talking about the photo booths, the bar drinks and the mini cupcakes being passed around, here is my guide to surviving a NYC media party:

Washington D.C. is certainly the place to be today, as an estimated 2 million people have come out to show support at the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Last night, the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network hosted a Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball at the Harman Center For The Arts. Guests included Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, Young Jeezy, T.I., MC Lyte, BowWow, Nick Cannon, and Don King. The evening included drinks, dancing, and performances by some of hip-hop's biggest stars, as guests came out to celebrate a night of great music alongside the swearing-in of a new president.
