[All photos by Nick McGlynn] Twitter, the social networking site on its way to taking over the world (in case you were unaware) hosted Twestival 2009 over the weekend with hundreds of Tweeters who took their 140 characters beyond the interweb to share their thoughts in person for a change. The event which was held between 150 cities worldwide September 10th-13th, got the party started for a cause as New York tweeters stepped out for a Celebrity Bowling competition at Brooklyn Bowl during New York’s Twestival, the largest of the three day series. [Photos via Nick McGlynn] Last night, following the Gawker rooftop party, media nerds everywhere flocked to the “Obliterati” party held at Sweet and Vicious bar. Nick McGlynn, Jessica Ollen, and Peter Feld were determined to bring back the social media meshing scene; following in the now defunct “Media Meshings” footsteps (put on by Richard Blakeley). Lost? Okay, Okay, first go here. Then read below for more…. More»

The Griffin iKaraoke for iPod. I found this on a site where the so-called ‘gift guru’ says, “Why go out to a karaoke bar and make a fool of yourself when you can make a fool of yourself at home?” How ridiculous! Enter Rachel Sklar to prove the point that WE LOVE making fools of ourselves - everywhere! I mean, with all the antics which inevitably occur in a sweet hour at the Talkhouse, let’s not pretend we are ever exempt from participating in the evening’s idiot parade. Now with the iKaraoke you will be ready to take it to the next level any time, anywhere. Just take a second to think about that…

Go HERE for more photos by RACHEL SKLAR! Last night, Taylor Momsen, aka Jenny Humphrey from “Gossip Girl” and her band “The Pretty Reckless” got reckless on stage at the Annex. And Sklar, who was front and center says “they were pretty good” Adding:

“I quite liked the speed and sound of their stuff, and Momsen can sing - she belts it out with a rough scratchy punk-rock voice that had a Courtney Love/Kim Carnes/Alannah Myles/Gwen Stefani/Hedwig feel. Plus good energy and presence, especially when you remember that she’s freaking SIXTEEN. Can’t wait for the ep when Little J opens for Rufus! Whoops, other way around”

Last night the American Society of Magazine Editors held their annual ceremony to hand out the National Magazine Awards at the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Lincoln Center. An admittedly shrinking crowd of editors, publishers, industry professionals and guests gathered to celebrate 26 winners across 20 categories, but could not have enjoyed host Jimmy Fallon’s opening joke about his obsessive readership of…. a blog (Gawker). Rachel Sklar of Abrams Research and Charitini, has the scoop: More»

The Annual Thrillist Pool Party at the Grace Hotel was looked exactly like you would expect it to.  Nerds in swimsuits playing with blow up toys while drinking shots of sponsored alcohol.  I say that with the utmost love and affection.  And, if anything, this party accomplished the task of getting Nick McGlynn to put his camera down-who knew a pool was all it took?!- hence the lovely Kate Miltner stepping in.  Plus, what other party can you think of that gets Caroline McCarthy in a bathing suit, Dennis Crowley in mesh shorts, and Rex Sorgatz fondling blow up balls? Okay, you’re right, it’s a straight SXSW flashback…

Whether you’re a mom, a future mom, or have a mom, “Love, Mom” is relevant to read. The book that sprang from the site “Postcards From Yo Momma,” founded by Jessica Grose (Jezebel) and Doree Shafrir (The Observer), held a festive book party last week at the Slipper Room.  Fittingly, the book made Daily Candy’s list today.  Click below to browse through the fans that made it to the party…. Maybe it’s because people are too busy…

Covering the sad Natasha Richardson story or  too hungover from partying at Pink Elephant and Greenhouse or lamenting the end of SXSW and Rex’s Pool Parties or even too concerned about the Gossip Girl’s pillow fight going on in Rolling Stones.

What do you think?
