New Yorkers rejoice! A kick ass music festival is coming to NYC (well, to Randall's Island specifically) July 28th and 29th. This music festival will feature over 40 performances of various genres. Some of the bigger names include The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, Matt and Kim and Girl Talk. More»

It's the last day of Frieze, the art fair on Randall's Island boasting collections from over 180 galleries. And it's certainly living up to its hype -- the ferries were packed with enthusiastic fans voyaging out to see the artful festivities. If you haven't checked it out yet, there's still time to hop on a ferry and do a walk-through (it's open until 6pm). Or, take a visual tour through this photo review of the fair's highlights.

Since launching the Frieze Art Fair in 2003 in London, Amanda Sharp has seen the fair grow and evolve into one of the world's major art events of the year. This year, for the first time, she and her partner Matthew Slotover are bringing Frieze to New York, where it will open on Randall's Island on May 4th. Displaying art from 180 galleries, Frieze New York is expected to bring contemporary art to New York in a way that's never been done before. Amanda spoke with us about bringing Frieze to New York, how they're adjusting it for New Yorkers, and what we can look forward to this year.

It's a Frieze Frenzy this week on New York's art scene -- the Randall's Island art fair boasts over 180 galleries, with a slew of accompanying parties and events. To coincide with the festivities, art fairs NADA, Pulse, and Verge will also be convening. But that's not all, folks. There's Picasso and Avedon at the Gagosian Galleries, and Courtney Love is debuting 45 dramatic drawings of her own creation. Who's the fairest of them all? Read this week's art roundup, and find out.

The British are coming! Frieze Art Fair, the crown jewel of London's art scene, invades New York City next weekend, May 4-7. And it promises to be quite the spectacle -- over 180 international contemporary galleries will display their art treasures, including the notoriously coy Gagosian Gallery.

The location of this glamorous fair? Randall's Island, an oft-forgotten sliver off Manhattan's coast that once housed an orphanage, a mental asylum, a graveyard for the poor, and Cirque du Soleil. More»

Many of us would believe that Quidditch was the mythical sport from Harry Potter books but this past weekend, New York's Randall's Island, played host to the very real 5th Annual Quidditch World Cup. More»

Randall's Island came alive this weekend with the second annual Electric Zoo, a dance music extravaganza with more sub-genres of electronic music than you even knew existed. We gave never seen a more colorful, exuberant crowd, and it's nice to see the oft-forgotten Randall's Island getting some use. But one thing this weekend left us, well, confused, to say the least... Yesterday we showed you Steve Aoki commanding the crowd at the Electric Zoo Festival, a three day open air celebration of electronic music at Randall's Island Park. Well, artistry aside, the four stages and more than fifty artists also made for some entertaining redonculousness. The wacky clothes, spellbound crowd, lost shoes, portable toilets and trash piles doesn't exactly have us prepping for parking lot tailgating and waving our lighters; but we have many fond memories of concert going. This weekend the Electric Zoo took over Randall's Island Park. Showcasing electronic music, the open air festival brought out many an inner wild animal. With four stages and over 50 artists including DJ Steve Aoki, David Guette and ATB as just a glimpse; the East River trail linking Manhattan and Queens was bustling with the beats, a crazy energy in contrast to the setting of 24 calm, grass acres. Concert goers either huddled on blankets or crowded up to the stage to take in three days of the genre's best. More»
