If each festival has its own identity, what, exactly, is FYF Fest? Is it a fashionable trust-fund hipster like Coachella? A shitkickin' good old boy like Stagecoach? An impressively drugged-out nudist like Burning Man? Well, as we learned last weekend, the FYF Fest is more like that friend of yours who got a six-figure financial job but still blacks out and pukes on himself on the weekends. In other words, it's bigger and fancier than ever, but the DIY attitude it was founded on is still alive and well. More»

We know that L.A. starts to feel like a ghost town on a holiday weekend, but with a Goldenvoice-revamped 2-day  FYF Fest kicking off on Saturday, the smartest kids might be the ones staying in town for Labor Day. And even if you're staying home to save dough, you deserve to see M83, Sleigh Bells, Dinosaur Jr. and the like just as much as anyone. Luckily for you, we've teamed up with our friends at Chilli Beans Sunglasses and Goldenvoice to give you a shot to win tickets, including a VIP prize package including free Chilli Beans sunglasses! Read on to find out how to enter today. More»

We've long been fans of the FYF Fest, dating back to the days when the alternative and indie rock themed festival had less corporate sponsorship to worry about and cheerfully printed the "F**k Yeah!" now implied in the name on their official tickets and banners. While we're general supporters of open profanity, the perfectly acceptable tradeoff in recent years has been the rapid expansion and improvement of the lineup, which last year featured beloved acts like Guided By Voices. But FYF organizers (which include co-sponsors like Goldenvoice) are clearly not yet satisfied, and they've proven it with an M83-led 2012 lineup, just announced this morning, that we feel safe saying is the best yet. All the details after the jump! More»

Sometimes one weekend just isn't enough. This year Coachella upped the ante by stacking two weekends full of crazy awesome live performances and endless amounts of booze. And with this weekend having temperatures over 100 degrees and sunny skies (opposed to last weekend's sprinkles and uncharacteristic cold temps), Coachellians were especially ready to rage. If you missed it, take a look at what happened in the desert over the weekend... More»

With the first weekend of Coachella in the books already, it might be understandable to think that the music community was going into a four-day hibernation to gear up for Friday. However, Goldenvoice is instead seizing the opportunity of having so many big-name bands sticking around for the week and throwing incredible shows all over the greater L.A. area, including possibly the greatest week of shows Pomona has ever seen. We posted a thorough breakdown of Coachella-related L.A. shows when they were announced last month, and it's even more relevant today. So don't wait until the weekend, Go See A Show! MORE>>

Some good news for those of you unable to partake in either of the two back-to-back Coachella weekends next month. As of Monday, the festival's producer Goldenvoice unveiled a fully-loaded schedule of shows in the L.A. area in the days surrounding the desert music festival. They've deemed the two-week live music extravaganza "Goldenvoice Presents April 2012." Whether you're getting in on Coachella action next month or have opted out this year, if you're into this year's lineup at all, you're probably going to want to take a look at the artists they've scheduled to perform in these supplemental shows since most of them are playing the festival this year.
