Night is my time for walking. I love to look for that glow of light that beckons from my intended destination; a movie premiere, a new restaurant, a new nightclub, an art gallery opening. As I approached the appropriately named Half Gallery, for painter Damon Johnson’s new show titled, “Thanks for Asking”, I noticed that only a slight glow could possibly escape from this tiny LES storefront. Also, apropos, their logo was done all in caps with the bottom halves of all the letters removed.

Never mind the size of the gallery, I had big expectations. Three clever people own the place; James Frey, the best selling author. Bill Powers, the former editor of Blackbook Magazine and Andy Spade, husband of handbag empress, Kate Spade. Plus, Damon is the son of the New York Post’s Page Six editor, Richard Johnson.

On Monday, Matthew Modine and Eric Villency hosted the kickoff party for the upcoming Bicycle for a Day (happening this Saturday), at the showroom of Maurice Villency. BFAD promotes the adoption of alternative transportation, and especially the individual effort required to make it work (we’ve done our part!). Guests such as Maggie Rizer, Kelly Choi, Simon van Kempen and Alex McCord, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Holly Dunlap, Richard Johnson and Sessa von Richtofen, Lara Meiland, Tatiana and Campion Platt, Gloria Reuben, Emma Snowdon-Jones, Blaine Trump, Kimberly Villency, and our Fave Four, Douglas Marshall, Keith Lissner, Devorah Rose and Kim Bates, enjoyed savory organic hors d’oeuvres from Pure Food and Wine and sipped VeeV cocktails and organic wines by Organic Vintages.

Yesterday, while scanning the Post, we came across this little number:”Bubbly Kick” in Richard Johnson’s popular “Page Six” section.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Richy Boy as much as the next guy, but this is a perfect example of how old media is behind the curve.  We wrote about  British billionaire Mike Ashley’s rocking night at Pink Elephant SIX days ago!  And that still was after the Sun Online had posted it.  Is Richard Johnson going to join his fellow Mesozoic friends in extinction soon?  Or does he have it in him to start following the blogosphere?
