Caron Renaissance Institute’s “Save A Life” Birthday Benefit
[All photos by JP PULLOS for PMc]. Last night’s Caron Renaissance Save a Life celebration at Butter marked the 20 year anniversary for the addiction treatment and recovery scholarship organization. Lorraine Bracco, Joy Bryant and Jane Oster were among those toasting the birthday, as were the venue’s owners, nightlife czars Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano. A dinner and auction followed speakers’ candid discussion of their involvement with the charity, now crossing into a third decade of helping its South Florida facility patients. More »

“Best 2k I Ever Spent!” Pole Superstar And S.P.I.N. Launch Party
Pole Superstar is the ultimate pole dance competition, which is pretty funny if you didn’t know that there are tiers of pole dancing. The sometimes vertical, upside down performers go head to head for a $10,000 grand prize. Not too bad for some erotic exercise. Yesterday, Pink Elephant housed the game’s elite, with Richie Akiva, Kipton Cronkite (this is totes artistic), Sir Ivan and many more serious spectators on hand to check out the moves, while also celebrating the launch of Single Parents In Need. Charity and anything is a great pairing, even pole dancing. More »

Restaurants ARE The New Clubs
The dinning /clubbing combo has always been a curious one at best. Those who are familiar with the old adage “Don’t shit where you eat”, can probably sympathize with the fear of finding a discarded cigarette butt in their ravioli. Ok perhaps an exaggeration, but eating among vodka drenched floors and smoked pit carpets can be disconcerting. So this of course begs the question, why are so many clubs like the fronting as restaurants and vice versa? More »

Will Richie Akiva And Scott Sartiano Revive The Old Plumm Space?
After recently getting community board approval to open up a restaurant and downstairs club/lounge in the old Plumm space, Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano are set to open up what might be the next NYC hotspot at 246 West 14th Street. Think Butter, their previous dinning clubbing combo designed by Steve Lewis that cornered Monday nights.
This new spot could very well be an interesting new chapter for this storied space. Steve Lewis wrote that he likes to refer to the space fondly as Nell’s, the knockout spot that preceded Plumm. But many may remember it more as the place where Axl Rose tried to knockout Tommy Hilfiger. What started as a slap fight, resulted in a Hilfiger karate chop, and a very memorable NY Post cover. The Shady 1 Oak Bar Receipt
The bottom of this recent $54 dollar bar receipt from 1 oak says “A 20% service charge has been added for Bottle Service Thank You”. Shady indeed. And perplexing of course, because no bottles were purchased. And because there is no itemization on the receipt, it is impossible to tell if 20% was snuck in there or not. Shady element number 2. Certainly a ponderous situation, and one that may give you pause to think next time you open up a tab.

Has 1Oak Gone To Ronnie Madra’s Head, Literally?
On Friday night, like clockwork, Ronnie Madra was at his typical promoter/owner table at 1oak. Music was same. Crowd was more or less the same. But headwear changed when he brought out some 1oak fitted baseball hats that he started tossing around to some of the spot’s regulars. Though we don’t claim to be a “regular”, we did manage to get our hands on a hat and snap a few pics for you guys. Maybe we should put this up on ebay and see what kind of premium it gets? This reminds me of when Noah Tepperberg of Marquee made Marquee sweatshirts and handed them out around the Delano in Miami several years ago to his pals including 1oak partner Richie Akiva (oh yea, maybe that’s how the 1oak guys got the idea?!).

Richie Akiva’s Ultimate 1oak Birthday Bash
When we got the invite for Richie Akiva’s Birthday party we were excited and intrigued. As many of our readers know, 1OAK is our unofficial home away from home and we are there at least a couple times a week. Richie’s invite listed about 40 or so female celebrities, models and socialites to host his soiree last Friday at 1OAK. Not to say the party was all frivolity, Richie threw the party in conjunction with Charity Water and the Charity Water plexi-glass box at the front of the club was filled with cash by the end of the night….but I am getting ahead of myself.

La Esquina, Keith Lissner, Blackbook, Cipriani, 1Oak… One Crazy Night
Go HERE for more photos and TAG YOURSELF in the Gallery!
Let us catch our breath before we begin. Ok, ready, here we go.
We began our night with dinner at La Esquina with Matt Levine. Matt is the owner/designer of Steelo Clothing but we weren’t there to discuss clothes. He was excited to tell us about his newest venture, The Eldridge. The Eldridge is the name of the new club that is going to be opening within the next couple of weeks. We know you’ve all heard this before, but we believe this time it’s true, the Eldridge is going to be unlike any club in New York City. The Eldridge is going to be more exclusive and luxurious than anything currently out there. It is going to raise the bar on New York nightlife. And that’s all we can say…for now.

It’s All Black And Hats For Rock & Republic

Backstage at the Rock & Republic show this weekend, it was all hats and black (and a little purple mixed in for fun). So did those hats stay on for the after party at 1OAK? I bet little Richie Akiva was in seventh heaven Saturday night, playing host to the ultra fabulous. Pictured below with the lovely Lydia, sans puma bag.

St. Barth’s, Now THAT’s Really 1OAK (1 Of A Kind)
Ronnie Madra and Richie Akiva know when something is “one of a kind” when they see it, or so they say. They even created a night club and a clever little acronym, 1oak, to remind us of their impeccable taste….which is why its ironic that they couldn’t be further from Manhattan right now.

Instead they have opted to ring in the new year in St. Barth’s, at Pink Elephant’s party being held at La Plage. With all of the snags and mishaps that have plauged the development of their spot, one would think these guys would be at the helm, working day and night and actually BE THERE.
But alas the allure of 1oak must not be that alluring…does this mean they should rename it 2oak, “2 of a kind,” or maybe 3 or 4 or 5?

Ladies, Pack Your Bags…
Gotham Magazine is debuting their annual picks of the city’s top 100 bachelors. Here is a highlight a few of the several picks:
-Both Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg of Marquee fame.
-Jared Kushner, owner of the Observer. (ummm…isn’t he dating Ms. Trump?)
-Eric Em, the “guest relations manager” (whatever that means) of Soho House.
-Kipton Cronkite, financial nerd.
-Jesse Keyes, real estate developer and co-owner of La Esquina, Lead invester of Goldbar.
-Richie Akiva, co-owner of Butter and self-perfected name dropper.
-Adam Albert, director of promoters, 1-OAK and Butter.
-Jeffrey Jah, Co-owner, Double Seven and Inn LW12
So let’s get this straight, the top single men here are promoters and club owners?!! Doesn’t this seem a little skewed? What about the artists, musicians, actors, writers, etc.? For a full list of bachelors, go here.
