Nur Khan presided over the annual Halloween celebration at Rose Bar, with Lily Donaldson, Hugh Grant, Kirsten Dunst, Alexa Chung, Rose Bryne, Agyness Deyn, Christin Siriano, Lizzy Jagger, Jason Statham,  Derek Blasberg, Aly Hilfiger and Andrew and Lauren Santo Domingo. Crazy costumes filled the Gramercy Park Hotel, probably one of the city’s most coveted spots to seek escape from the rain, and real life. More»

Last night, the place to be was the Versace sponsored Whitney Studio Party (stay tuned for full coverage, later this afternoon!), hosted by the Arts Council, chaired by Penelope Cruz and organized by committee members including our own Rachelle Hruska. Clad in and accompanied by Keith Lissner, she welcomed patron partiers  Lindsay Lohan and Donatella Versace (above); just a few of those who turned out in art chic for honoree Leonard Lauder. Dressing the part, however, does not always mean good behavior. Lindsay Lohan is very much case-in-point. More»

Noise complaints. Smoking violations. Drug raids. Illegal dancing. As soon as a New York nightclub generates buzz these days, the fuzz isn’t far behind. So if your night out at one of the below hotspots is interrupted by the cops, cantankerous neighbors or the Department of Health, it’s good to have a Plan B in mind with some like-minded alternatives:

If you like the Jane Ballroom, you’ll love the Bowery Ballroom:

The Bowery Ballroom’s crowd might not be as swank as the Jane’s, but its gorgeous interior–including, like the Jane, a swell balcony and giant disco ball– is. The rock-centric music institution has some of the best bookings in town. Also, you can dance inside without worrying about Footloose-style repercussions (seriously, when will NYC’s ludicrous cabaret laws be overturned?) and the Jane’s neighbors who actually started a blog to chronicle their complaints about the endangered venue.

Last night, Teen Vogue editor Amy Astley threw a party at Rose Bar for “The Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insider’s Guide To Careers In Fashion Today“. The party featured guests from the fashion world such as Chanel Iman, Vera Wang, Oliva Palermo, Rachel Roy, Patrick Demarchelier, and Helen Lee Schifter. Also there to represent the book’s target audience were various teenagers, although it seems pretty obvious that if you’re at a party with Vera Wang and Patrick Demarchelier, you don’t really need Teen Vogue to tell you how to break into the Fashion world. [Can you spot Katy Perry and Jude Law? Photo by Gregory Littley] Last night, our favorite serial bottle popper was back in action at Avenue. Apparently he decided the VMA after party warranted him buying a bottle of Patron for EVERY SINGLE TABLE there! Wow. And that was just the beginning of the party circuit last night (let alone the weekend). Diddy, Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake all hit up 1Oak (around the corner from Avenue) to celebrate the VMA’s (were they toasting to Team Kayne or Team Taylor?). People jumped back and forth between the two spots most of the night, but when 1 Oak doorman Binn showed up at Avenue at 3am right after Mickey Rourke, it was clear which direction the party momentum had shifted.  Avenue went strong until about 4am, at which point the friendly neighborhood cops made sure it shut down on time (unlike Saturday when they kept the music running until 5am!).

Saturday night saw the opening of the much anticipated BOOM BOOM room on the 18th floor of The Standard Hotel. Patrick McMullan told me that he hadn’t seen an opening quite like it since Studio 54. More photos and story below….. More»

Nur Khan, Chris Wyse[All photos by MARC DIMOV for PMc]. Nur Khan is really packing an already busy Fashion Week schedule.
