via hamptons.guestofaguest.com: Did you head out east this past weekend? Christie Brinkley celebrated her Hamptons Magazine cover; Chrissie Miller DJed a pool party; sparklers lit up Georgica, fancy types got Barefoot Beneath The Stars; and Kirstie Alley... MORE>>>
Were you at every party over the weekend? In case you weren't, we have a round-up of the best events that happened out east. Check it out! More»
[Photo via Psych Services] Just in case you never got around to bookmarking all of our reading suggestions this summer, we have a solution for you: Here they are, all in one place. So next time you are looking for a new book, you know where to go. It may not be for some Jitney reading anytime soon, but there's plenty of park benches in New York City to occupy with a good book. Think of it as a literary cheat-sheet, or a reading round-up, per say. More»
We pride ourselves here on our wide array of beach reads. There's definitely books in our GofG "library" we know you've never heard of, ones that were probably on your English mandated reading list, photo books, and of course, classics like Judy Blume's Summer Sisters. We saw a few copies on the Jitney and a beach towel or two, but on the off chance there were people out there who still hadn't cracked open this novel about these two friends journey into adulthood, we thought we'd make sure to get it on your "To-Do" list. [Picture via Hamptons] If you remember not too long ago, we were scrambling to find activities to entertain ourselves come Monday, when the majority of our weekend friends boarded the Jitney to head back to Manhattan (suckers). Luckily, we got loads of feedback from readers, telling us their suggestions for everything from bars to restaurants. When we heard about the $25 prix fare menu and drink specials at Georgica, thanks to DJ M, that happen every Monday, we knew where we would be after we wrapped up the first workday of the week. But we were not prepared for what head chefs Robert Hesse and Seth Levine had in store for us.
By now, you've probably picked up on my love of white bathing suits (is this the third or fourth time I've mentioned it?). Therefore, I find it completely appropriate to stockpile them at every opportunity possible, especially if they happen to be at the extremely reasonable price of $33.98, like this bandeau style bikini from Target. Yes, Target. Because even though we're totally getting an Italian Riviera vibe from this suit, it's not like the thing's going to cost you the price of a plane ticket to get there. Or a round trip jitney ticket even, for that matter.
[Photo via ROB RICH] From hamptons.guestofaguest.com: Love Heals is one busy charity. Last night, they shook up the West side with their "Healed With A Kiss" Party at 675 Bar and managed to gather loads of socials, even with the fierce competition. But before that, they were hosting the party out East this weekend at Savanna's in Southampton. They were celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Alison Gertz Foundation for AIDS research, of which all proceeds from both events went to. MORE>>>
Last week while standing in line for the Hampton Jitney on the way back from the city, a demure and well-spoken woman came up to me. 'Going to the Hamptons?' she said. 'Um, yes,' I tried to say through a mouth full of chicken sandwich (hey, it had been a long day week). 'We just started a new business you might be interested in,' she handed me an envelope and mysteriously slinked away. Feeling a little like Chuck Bass with his weird stamp and bizarro secret society (minus drugs and prostitutes), I opened up the formal yellow envelope she handed me with a perfectly tied black ribbon as she walked away. [L.A. Reid, Eliza Dushka, Erica Reid at Bottle Shock Party in Southampton. Photos by Rob Rich]
From: hamptons.guestofaguest.com:
"Bottle shock" is a temporary condition of wine characterized by muted or disjointed fruit flavors. It often occurs immediately after bottling or when wines (usually fragile wines) are shaken in travel....It is also a film opening tomorrow about by Randall Miller, about a small California winery and the shock waves it set off in 1976 when it beat out the most exalted French wines in international competition (The Judgement of Paris).
The film stars Alan Rickman, Bill Pullman, Chris Pine, Rachael Taylor, Freddy Rodriguez, Eliza Dushku, and Dennis Farina.
