Anisha Lakhani, private school teacher-turned author has been hitting the social scene recently. She created quite a controversy exposing Manhattan's private school world in her book, Scooped.  But maybe being a "gossip girl" pays off because she is looking more fabulous than ever! More»

Anisha LakhaniThere's nothing chicer than spending Fashion Week in a bookstore. This evening, Border's Bookstore on 57th Street and Park Avenue is hosting a reading and signing of Anisha Lakhani's novel Schooled.

Ms. Lakhani's appearance is scheduled from 7:00pm-7:45pm, but take it from me: get there early! At her previous signings, guests lined up outside to get a peak and meet the author. Perhaps this time around, it'll be a more intimate gathering, but who knows, there might be more closet nerds out there than expected.

Early this evening, the Corner Bookstore on the Upper East Side hosted former Dalton School teacher, now author of "Schooled", Anisha Lakhani and her friends for a book reading and signing followed by a cocktail reception. "Schooled" is Anisha's debut novel about a teacher in an Upper East Side private school (Dalton) who experiences a whole new meaning to "private tutoring".

Those that attended and supported Anisha included her darling adorable mother Anjali Ahooja (who by the way secured her literary agent for her), her financier husband Mussadiq Lakhani, socialites actress Byrdie Bell, always sultry Emma Snowdon-Jones, handsome playboys Nick Dietz and Douglas Marshall, Mina-Jacqueline Au (wearing her new Rebecca Taylor top and sporting an irresistible Sang A bag), PR guru Susan Shin, Tracy Stern (with her very sexy skinny jeans and cowboy boots) ... and a handful of other beautiful people that packed the room in tight.

I KNEW IT! I always said they were a different breed….Manhattan kids. I spent my summers out East with them at the Club, at tennis camp and taking sailing lessons; I was surrounded by usual suspects from top schools like Dalton, Chapin, Spence, Riverdale and Horace-Mann, to name a few. These elite kids were the offspring of power brokering financial barons, family fortune heirs, and their trophy wife admirers. I always knew that something was up with these kids from the moment they started calling me “Country Boy” because I didn’t live in Manhattan in the 10021 Zip Code. As if Greenwich Connecticut was in New Hampshire. They were different all right!
