[Scott Buccheit gets some help blowing out his Birthday candles from Chau Ngo] In the Fred Perry VIP room at the private ping-pong SPiN nightclub this past Friday, Scott Buccheit celebrated another stylish Birthday, hosted by Gillian Hearst Simonds and longtime love Naeem Delbridge. More»

Richie Akira, Scott Sartiano[All photos by JP PULLOS for PMc]. Last night’s Caron Renaissance Save a Life celebration at Butter marked the 20 year anniversary for the addiction treatment and recovery scholarship organization. Lorraine Bracco, Joy Bryant and Jane Oster were among those toasting the birthday, as were the venue’s owners, nightlife czars Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano. A dinner and auction followed speakers’ candid discussion of their involvement with the charity, now crossing into a third decade of helping its South Florida facility patients. More»

Last night, Scott Buccheit went to not one, but two events at The Box. Luckily, he documented it all for us, from the premiere of Jude Law’s Rage, to Peace One Day, and lastly a birthday party at Butter. More»

The dinning /clubbing combo has always been a curious one at best.  Those who are familiar with the old adage “Don’t shit where you eat”, can probably sympathize with the fear of finding a discarded cigarette butt in their ravioli.  Ok perhaps an exaggeration, but eating among vodka drenched floors and smoked pit carpets can be disconcerting.  So this of course begs the question, why are so many clubs like the fronting as restaurants and vice versa?  More»

Axl Rose, Tommy HilfigerAfter recently getting community board approval to open up a restaurant and downstairs club/lounge in the old Plumm space, Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano are set to open up what might be the next NYC hotspot at 246 West 14th Street.  Think Butter, their previous dinning clubbing combo designed by Steve Lewis that cornered Monday nights.

This new spot could very well be an interesting new chapter for this storied space.  Steve Lewis wrote that he likes to refer to the space fondly as Nell’s, the knockout spot that preceded Plumm.  But many may remember it more as the place where Axl Rose tried to knockout Tommy Hilfiger.  What started as a slap fight, resulted in a Hilfiger karate chop, and a very memorable NY Post cover.  More»

We’ve been surprisingly good boys for the last three days. We’ve been going to just as many events as usual, but we’ve been home by 11. Monday found us at the Blackbook welcomes Steve Lewis at Aspen Social. We serendipitously ran into Rachelle as we exited cabs and hit the event together. We ran into Steve Lewis first thing. He was holding court with Blackbook’s Cayte Grieve and owner Ari Horowicz. No sooner had we said our hello then Steve insisted on giving us all a tour. Once the tour was over we ran into Jen Gatien, Steve Kasuba and Debbie Harry. Having seen the host and the space we made our exits.

Tuesday we first went to John Varvatos’s private dinner at Mario Batalli’s Italian Wine Merchants. The party was to commemorate the watch that John designed with Ernest Benz. We were greeted by Robert Fowler and ate some scrumptious pasta and juicy steak. We rushed out to make the next party at the IAC. The party sponsor was Audi and the hostess was the lovely Padma Lakshmi. You couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a promoter and in a few minutes we ran into…

Let us catch our breath before we begin. Ok, ready, here we go.

We began our night with dinner at La Esquina with Matt Levine. Matt is the owner/designer of Steelo Clothing but we weren’t there to discuss clothes. He was excited to tell us about his newest venture, The Eldridge. The Eldridge is the name of the new club that is going to be opening within the next couple of weeks. We know you’ve all heard this before, but we believe this time it’s true, the Eldridge is going to be unlike any club in New York City. The Eldridge is going to be more exclusive and luxurious than anything currently out there. It is going to raise the bar on New York nightlife. And that’s all we can say…for now.

…So claims Richie Akiva, owner of Butter with partner Scott Sartiano, to NY Mag.  1OAK is set to open on October 19th at 453 West 17th street and Richie isn’t talking…at least about the new club which he “really wants to be a surprise”.  One thing he is talking about is his diet, though even that comes off sounding too cool for us.  Here are some of our takes from the interview:

-Richie starves himself for the Jewish holidays, and has since he was a baby.  This includes not even allowing himself water or a face wash for 24 hours.

-His favorite cereals are Apple Jacks and Frosted Mini Wheats.

-He eats at either Butter, Bar Pitti, Da Silvano, or Cipriani for lunch everyday.

-Sundays are his “wifey days”…“Sunday I don’t do anything except hang out with my girlfriend at the time, whoever that may be. I call that day ‘wifey day.’” Um…cute?

-Number of times he “name dropped” during his interview about his “DIET”=

1.) Wednesday, September 19th: “I didn’t eat dinner. I had a big party for Puffy’s fragrance launch at a townhouse — basically a mansion — on 67th Street and Madison.” (One)

2.) Tuesday, September 18th: “I had dinner at the Waverly Inn with my partner Scott Sartiano…. I’m always with interesting people. The other day I was with Scott and his girlfriend, Jamie Lynn-Sigler. Then I was with Puff one night at dinner at the Gramercy.” (Two, Three, Four-for mentioning the Wavery Inn and the Gramercy in the same day)

3.) Monday, September 17th: “I had dinner at Butter with Diana Ross’s son Evan Ross, and a bunch of my friends and a couple of big model girls…Monday nights are rocking stronger than ever. We had Terrence Howard, Kimora Lee, Russell Simmons, and a whole bunch of race-car drivers like Jeff Gordon and Edie Irvine and Jimmy Johnson. Cuba Gooding Jr. was there. They come up to my table and say hi.” (8 count them, 8 name drops, plus one for the models, brings total to 13).

4.) Saturday, September 15: “…then I went to Nobu…That’s like a family place for me.  One of my best friends is Robert De Niro’s son, so I’ve been going there since the day it opened. They take care of me very well there.

Total Name Drops: 14 (This has to be a record for “The New York Diet” piece the magazine runs).

For the full interview on Richie’s hip eating habits go here.

We’re pretty sure it’s going to take a lot more than one new club opening to “change new york’s nightlife”, but we are hoping that Richie surprises us all and proves our doubts wrong.
