Turns out this is a great week to be a baller on a budget in L.A.: you can eat at places generally reserved only for special occasions (see our guide to DineLA Restaurant Week), and shop clothes by designers north of your price point to step up your fashion game for way less damage. Tomorrow the fashion district downtown is host to a myriad of sample sales where you can score some on-point pieces to update your wardrobe, if you know what you're doing as this is a different breed of retail than what happens at The Grove. But we're here to help you work that system with some tips and handy info to make the most of your shopping adventure downtown. So take advantage of this rare opportunity to dine and shop like you're in a higher tax bracket tomorrow by hitting the sample sales and then heading over to Bouchon.
Celebrate with Krista Johnson as her store Ella Rue turns one, in their bigger, better location at 3231 P Street NW on Wednesday! They'll be serving bubbly and holiday treats, and a portion of the sales will benefit the Washington Humane Society. More»

Who doesn't love some good vintage and a party? New York Vintage held a private cocktail party last Friday night at the Jarlath Mellett interior design shop in Amagansett. Dogs, jewelry and drinks made Friday night a particularly tempting night for many Hamptons women who ventured to the London Jewelers boutique in East Hampton for a different kind of cocktail party. The Udell family's London Jewelers and the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons came together to host The Pet Project, a cocktail party where guests could get a buzz and adopt a puppy. A brilliant strategy that could lead to some big life altering additions. (And was banned in the West Village.) More»
