Ah, springtime. Cherry blossoms blooming, birds chirping, white snow falling…the most sensational time of the year. What better way to usher in the nation’s most popular season than the annual Pink Tie Party, which celebrates the 101st National Cherry Blossom Festival? Spring evokes a sense of a fresh start and new possibilities, applied to all areas of our lives including, and most importantly, our wardrobes. It was so encouraging to stroll through a sea of pink and pastels for an evening and finally see the light at the end of this fickle winter tunnel. Even though the weather has been questionable, one thing is certain: the nation’s capital is ready to say goodbye to winter. Here are a few of my favorite outfits from the Pink Tie Party:

When you think of witty banter, eminent unemployment and problems only those in their twenties can understand, Lena Dunham's "Girls" should automatically come to mind. Costume designer Jenn Rogien had the challenge of dressing our four favorite characters in styles that reflect their personalities, without being too obvious. Rogien pulls off the "Girls" look flawlessly, and each character manages to evoke her place in life through what she wears, along with whatever situation she gets into. Click through to shop all four looks, put together based on each character's personal style transformation throughout the seasons.

Last night in Washington, the cast of Downton Abbey partied elegantly sipped champagne at the British Embassy, socialites had a powwow for Malaria at the Huntsmans', toys were collected for the YMCA at Town Hall, and more:

Socials were spotted all over the Huntsmans' residence in Kalorama for the Malaria No More Young Ambassadors Holiday Party, and the launch of Ashley Taylor Bronczek's WEAR project bracelets. Guests enjoyed light holiday-themed bites and cocktails, a live pianist, and stole peeks at the former Chinese ambassador's family photos (some from his recent run for US President). More»

Last night, the Capital Club held their 20th annual Sinatra Soirée at the National Building Museum. Dashing guys and dolls twirled around to a big band blasting nostalgic tunes decked out in the evening's dress code, a mix of “Summer Ahoy” and “Strong Cocktail.”
After spending the evening perusing the partygoers, I could have used a strong cocktail with all the handsome men and lovely ladies mixing and mingling.
Grab a cocktail, turn on a Sinatra tune and enjoy my top 10 best dressed from Sinatra Soiree, who looked dashing just the way they looked last night.

Even though Krista Johnson recently moved her high-end consignment boutique Ella Rue across the street to a bigger and better space, you don't have to say goodbye to the old location just yet. Before closing up shop in the former home for good, Johnson reopened the doors this past Saturday for a two weekend warehouse sale featuring some seriously discounted designer duds. More»

If Nantucket and the other Northeast vacation hotspots hadn't basically claimed the lobster as their unofficial mascot, the Hamptons would be all over that. Considering the amount of beach lobster bakes and clawed creatures downed at restaurants on the East End, we thought it only appropriate to bring you this bikini just covered in them. More»
