Back in 2007, Record Store Day was conceived as a way to draw attention to the fast-dwindling, unique culture of the local, plucky and pretentious record store. Happening this Saturday (possibly to coincide with 4/20?), the celebration has spread across the U.S.. With a dizzying list of vinyl LPs being released exclusively for Record Store Day, there are many reasons for music lovers to make pilgrimages to their local record shops. But even with the growing list of vinyl enthusiasts, there are plenty of us who are still afraid of needles and prefer to hunker down over our Spotify libraries. Thankfully, there are plenty of things happening on Record Store Day besides the sale of records—live concerts, DJ sets, free goodies and we're happy to provide your guide to the best events in L.A. to hit on Record Store Day.

Well, summer is officially over, but that doesn't mean The Summer Of Live Music is anywhere close to being done. The fact is, hot weather in September is nothing new, and that means that there's a plethora of outdoor concerts, weekend festivals, rare touring acts, and innovative shows to keep us all occupied from now until the World Series. The next time you hear some non-Angeleno say L.A. lacks any real culture, ask them if the KROQ Weenie Roast has ever come to wherever they're from or the last time The Weeknd played a show at sunset in a cemetery where famous people like Bugsy Siegel, two of the Ramones, Jayne Mansfield and George Harrison have been laid to rest. It may not feel like L.A.'s five-month-long shorts and sandals pool party season outside yet, but the summer of live music is already going strong with the aforementioned concerts and more, all of which we bring you in this handy guide to L.A.'s top shows to see this week. We've been trying to tell you this for weeks, but the Summer Of Live Music isn't going to be stopping any time soon. Nope, with yet another week of unique shows from big names, old favorites and dynamic new groups, it looks like you're not getting any rest before Labor Day. But trust us, this is nothing to complain about, especially with only-in-L.A. gems like The Weeknd on the Hollywood Forever Cemetery lawn on the radar. So whatever else you might be up to this week, make sure you leave time to Go See A Show! More»
