Academy Award-nominated writer/director Noah Baumbach and actress Candice Bergen hosted a screening of the 1981 classic My Dinner With Andre alongside cast members Andre Gregory and Wally Shawn Tuesday night at the SoHo House with The Week Magazine. Guests including celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito, Nicole Mar, Chloe Malle, and many more mingled over cocktails before watching the film which follows the life-changing conversations between two acquaintances out to dinner in New York City. If you have ever stepped foot inside the member’s only Soho House, there’s a very good chance you have seen Roberto Monticello. My fascination with the man began, I’m sure, not unlike many others before me. Word of mouth: “See that guy in the yellow shirt and red blazer? They call him the Mayor of Soho House,” exclaimed my friend last Tuesday night. I watched as dozens of people passed by to pay their respects. Always jovial in spirits, this man appeared to know everyone in the room. At least they all knew him. When he took his throne in the chair outside of the 6th floor elevators, I made my move.
“Hello. I heard you’re the Mayor and I would like to meet you.”
“Ha. Sit my child. The mayor eh? The Mayor of what?”
“The Mayor of Soho House sir.”
(laughs) “I am the Mayor maybe, but the Mayor of Meatpacking is a better description.”
Thus started my time spent with Roberto.
So…how exactly does one become the Mayor of Meatpacking? More»

[Ah, I'm just so exhausted from this sun....snoooze] You’ve probably heard about Soho House’s anti-Finance guy eugenics, a program instituted this summer banning suits and ties on the roof to engender a more “relaxed” atmosphere. More recently, the club has tried to foster a more “artistc” vibe by bringing in real books into its quarters (not just book wallpaper!). Curiously, however, they continue to tolerate socialites. Namely, Jules Kirby, one of the more media friendly types who was recently arrested for filching a flag while drunk in the Hamtpons. Kirby has a proclivity to generating a constant stream of web updates, including her tanning activities on the Soho House rooftop, replete with pictures! Another sizzling shot of Mrs. Kirby below (semi NSFW). More»

[Diane Keaton filming "Morning Glory". All photos by Getty] Tired of sunbathing in Sheep’s Meadow? Over the pool at SoHo House? Diane Keaton has a new summer activity for you: Bagpiping behind a shrub in Battery Park. What better way to commune with nature and, uhm, your appreciation for Scotland? If you’re skeptical that this trend will catch on, don’t be: Diane Keaton, (aka Annie Hall!!!) has been setting New York trends since the 70s, so we’re sure Olivia Palermo will be doing a highland fling in no time. But as for Ms.Keaton’s outfit….. More»
We REALLY like the idea of a misting tower: after all, spritzing yourself with Evian can get SO exhausting, and hiring someone to fan you with palm leaves can get expensive. A misting tower is the perfect gift for your high-maintenance pool buddy. And the plus-side of gifting this is that now when you hang out with your friend, you can reap in the misting benefits without actually having to be the freak who brings a portable misting tower to the rooftop of the SoHo house….

This summer more than ever, when a night comes along that is free of rain, lightly warm and breezy, we suggest just one thing—get yourself outside, asap! If you aren’t waiting for the rain to stop in the Hamptons, the Soho House poolside is the one of the best city ways to spend a rare perfect summer night. The great weather was a big plus for the fashion event, Skinny Dip, which featured (this month) the latest summer designs from Juliette Longuet in a show styled by Felix Mercado (founder of SiWS PR) along with live music, performances (some with fire!) and barely dressed dancers. The Junior Society of Ballet Hispanico, one of New York’s top contemporary dance companies hosted the Dance into Fashion benefit Monday night at the Soho House and New York city social scenesters flocked to the occasion. Our new favorite “webshow” star Adrien Field stylishly hit the dance floor in between posing for our photog and sipping on his cocktail. Sean Stevens, Leah Bourne, Carter Cramer, and our very own Douglas Marshall were also in attendance for the event which benefited Ballet Hispanico’s education program, Primeros Pasos. Members of the dance company also made a special appearance on the dance floor dressed in Zac Posen’s 2009 Fall collection showing the party-goers how it’s done as DJ Nick Cohen kept the turn tables spinning!
