In Manhattan, $584,000 will get you a 900 square foot 2-bedroom condo in East Harlem. In Detroit, the same price just bought an 80,311 seat stadium and the adjacent 127 acres. More»
The trend of models being something other than wealthy, mute clothes hangers is established enough to have spawned a PR agency aimed squarely at the fashion-turned-entertainer crowd. And there’s no one better to launch it than soon-to-be Mr. Marc Jacobs, Lorenzo Martone. More»

[Bella's (R), Southside (L)] Anthony and Tom Martignetti will toast the 1st birthday of their Soho club, Southside, on November 5th (invite below). But what are they really celebrating? Besides its name, little about the venue has changed since the brothers brought a loyal preppy crowd to 1 Cleveland Place in 2006 with Bar Martignetti and its downstairs bar, Bella’s. More»
The team behind absinthe-centric Chinatown lounge Apotheke just got cleared to open Pulqueria, a taco and margarita joint next door on Doyers Street. Pulqueria might seem like an affront on the area’s innumerable dumpling holes-in-the-wall and noodle shops. But it’s really just another instance of NYC bars, restaurants and clandestine strip clubs operating in unexpected places. Some of the spots below are stubborn holdouts. Others are examples of neighborhood imperialism. But all make for pleasant detours from the scenes that surround them…. More»
[All photos by NEIL RASMUS for PMc]. Last night, Rag & Bone celebrated the opening of a new SoHo store. Guests and fans including Sienna Miller and Euan Rellie congratulated the label’s designers, Marcus Wainwright and David Nevill, on hand for the event. Already a staple in NYC’s department stores, the West Village and some uniforms at a few Jason Pomeranc hotels, the new location is a welcome addition the shopping stops where we search out our city threads. The cast of Gossip Girl has been spotted all over Soho the last two weeks filming scenes that we will, no doubt, be pouring ourselves over on the show’s return. However, from the looks of these very casually dressed characters, they may be on their break. Blair Waldorf in worn out pj’s? Never.

After penning and contributing to over half a dozen books, Style.com editor Laird Borrelli-Persson had much to smile about at last night’s book launch party in her honor. Simply Chic Public Relations and stylist Derek Warbuton of Derek Loves Shopping hosted a brunch at Room 18 to encourage a little SoHo spending, assisting smaller neighborhood stores in recession survival. Heiress, designer, style icon, couture collector - Daphne Guinness holds many titles, and even though the “most stylish woman alive” has been around for decades (about four now), it seems as if those not en Vogue are just catching word of the badger-haired beauty. That’s right - you’re not seeing in black and white. The Brit’s hair is done up in streaks of black and white-blond, and has been for years. Her fashion trademark compliments her wardrobe of the black and white staples, recently worn out shopping in Soho (after the jump) with sky high platforms, a boyfriend blazer for the transitioning weather, and a Hermes bag. Congrats on walking in those things Daphne - and on the (aging) arm candy. More story and photos below… More»
