It's been a long and litigious winter -- from Southampton to Montauk there have been some heavy hitting changes out East. From the Surf Lodge being sold to Montauk Properties LLC, to renovations at the Sloppy Tuna, The Talkhouse, the Blue Parrot, and Banzai Burger, to who is replacing AXE Lounge, to boozy brunches, and pop up shops galore, see what's been happening in the Hamptons after the jump! Though Montauk is a part of East Hampton, it's always been slightly secluded from the glitz of other East End communities. Things have been changing the past few years though, and the small, sleepy town has been adding more restaurants, bars, and clubs (in a nutshell, more 'city folk'). We've said before that Montauk is the new Southampton, but according to the Wall Street Journal, now that's official.
Montauk is getting its biggest makeover yet this summer, as over 12 small-town businesses have changed owners since last season. More»
Curbed recently reported that Chris Jones (of Solé East and Solé East Beach) and Larry Seidlick purchased the run-down Ronjo Hotel with the intention of fully renovating the property and turning it into a more upscale hotel called The Montauk Beach House.
The pair bought the Ronjo for about $5 million, and then purchased an alley way near the hotel for $35,000. The sale of the alley stirred up some political trouble for Jones and Seidlick, though, as some democrats on the Town Board have expressed concern that the sale price of the alley was too low. More»

Solè East in Montauk heated things up on Sunday night when the ladies of Sugar Shack Burlesque hit the Hamptons with one of their scandalous shows. The NYC based troupe brought with them co-founder Miss Runaround Sue and her friends Evelyn Vinyl and Legs Malone, to name a few. The girls performed to a packed house and scintillated the audience with their gyrating hips and sultry voices. Since its founding in 2006, Sugar Shack Burlesque has been creating exciting, cutting edge events that still maintain the integrity of the old days of vaudeville but put a modern spin on their routines as well.
