Last night, the city’s scenesters donned masks to channel a little mystery for a preparty at Milk Studios and then the main draw, Interview Magazine’s Russian Masquerade Ball at the new and already popular hot spot, SL. The pregame included mixology concoctions created exclusively for the event by Stoli, jewelry gifts from Alex and Ani as well as makeup artists from MAC to glam up the VIP with the appropriate level of maquillage drama. Hostess Fabiola Beracasa, clad in a romantic full length black and red dress joined Sophia Lamar, Genevieve Jones, Naeem Delbridge, Scott Sartiano, Tim Morehouse, Eugene Remm, Kipton Cronkite, Scott Buccheit, Jasmin Rosemberg and Rachel Heller for the annual costumed affair. We haven’t been to the Hotel on Rivington in a long time, and decided it was time to check in on the place this weekend.  This Saturday, Evan Monster and The Happy Meal Gang were hosting “The Penthouse” party with DJ Spencer Project, Japanster, Misty Rabbit and special guests like Casey Spooner and Warren Fisher (Fisherspooner), Adam Dugas ( Citizens Brigade), Cindy Green (Libertine), Sophia Lamar, and Mike Furey(Dangerous Muse) among others.  All three levels were open including the rooftop terrace where the hot tub was steaming.

If you were in NYC for New Year’s, and were in the mood to party with some real experienced New Yorkers, you were at Santos Party House watching Sophia Lamar pouring champagne, the Misshapes on stage, and Bad Brilliance in the crowd getting some action.  There were characters galore, and alcohol for everyone.  It was THE party to be at to ring in 2009.

Ever been in a room full of people you’re sure are fabulous but whom you don’t actually recognize? We were, last night at Blackbook Magazine’s May issue bash, held at the “First you need to get in. Then you need to be cool enough to get a table. Then you can get bottles” glory that is 1 Oak. Somehow we got in that door and, later, into a cushy banquette next to our lovely chum Model Behavior. First though, we ran into the ever dapper Single Threat, who was able to give us the down-low (low-down? no doubt) re the buffed and de-puffed cognescetti getting their Skky-fueled freak on to the Beatles and Britney.
