With the sun shining down over L.A. begging all to come out and play on Saturday, LA CANVAS and ShopWasteland.com teamed up to host The Dive Club, an all-day pool party at the Roosevelt's Tropicana Bar. Between icy summer cocktails, floaties, lounge lamping and catching rays while DJs Mystery Skulls, Kittens, and Keith 2.0 handled the tunes, guests once again enjoyed a sample of the glorious months ahead. Let's take a closer look at The Dive Club's generous preview of our favorite time of year and discuss 10 reasons to be excited for pool party season...
Weather-wise, FILTER could not have picked a better weekend for a rooftop pool party to help launch L.A. into summer mode. On Saturday, the brews were cold and the babes were baking as the magazine joined forces with Burton atop the snowboard company's Melrose flagship where they hosted a killer pool party featuring live music from L.A.'s own White Arrows.
On Saturday, LA CANVAS decided to ignore the Gregorian calendar and felt it was high time for a pool party, taking over the Drai's Hollywood rooftop pool for an all-day, booze-infused romp. Listen, as far as we're concerned, if the sun is out and the temperature is warm enough to comfortably prance around in a bikini, we are all about it and will gladly get down with some poolside lamping and shenanigans whenever the opportunity presents itself. Sure, it's only early April, but take one look at these photos from Saturday's party and we challenge you not to ask the same question LA CANVAS posed: is it summer yet??
A summer Sunday in L.A. without a pool party filled with floaties, bikinis, booze, and jams provided by at least one famous musician would just be blasphemy. Luckily, GUESS had this week covered with Sunday's installment of their High/Tide summer party series at The Standard Hollywood. More»
4th Of July Weekend is just about here. Hopefully, you're putting in your last full day before the five-day weekend, even staying late in the office if you have to in order to make sure every "i" is dotted, because the American workforce is full of can-do team players that never quit until the job is... hey wait, where are you going? You're leaving already? It's barely noon! Well, before you go, a question: you're not, by chance, going to a pool party this weekend, are you? Because I hear you don't do so well at pool parties. As you might recall from our previous visit to Summertramp, the monthly DTLA-based polysexual waterpark jamboree being thrown all summer long, the gays know how to party. And based on the scope and scale of last month's throwdown, there were only two ways this month's edition of "gorgeous, hot mess" was going to be remembered: either as a relative disappointment, or as even bigger and badder than its predecessor. So, if you had to guess, how do you think Sunday's went down? More»
On Sunday, GUESS took over Drai's for High/Tide, a summer rooftop pool party, one of 30 international events they're throwing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the trendsetting American brand. Beautiful party people out to enjoy poolside DJ sets while drinking mimosas and getting their tan on– sound like a perfect day? Yeah, we agree. More»
4th Of July Weekend is finally upon us. Naturally, you're putting in your last full day before the three-day weekend, even staying late in the office if you have to in order to make sure every "i" is dotted, because the American workforce is full of can-do team players that never quit until the job is... hey wait, where are you going? You're leaving already? It's not even noon! Well, before you go, a question: you're not, by chance, going to a pool party this weekend, are you? Because I hear you don't do so well at pool parties. This morning, a shrewd mother duck who obviously follows the news taught her adorable ducklings what summer in Los Angeles is all about: pool parties. She took the liberty of hosting her own and led her young in a casual dip in a backyard swimming pool. Even she knows today is the official first day of our favorite season and got a head-start on the pool action. More»
