TRACY FEITH of course! Okay, I realize this happened like eons ago as far as blog world goes, but two days ago, Michelle Obama showed up to the National Prayer service as the official first lady in a Tracy Feith dress!! Our favorite designer from our summer out east this year, Tracy was often spotted hanging out at our old standby, Surf Lodge, the spot of his store. Between this and his new line for Target, Tracy is on a roll, and we couldn’t be happier for the surfer!

Surf Lodge is borded up and dormant now that winter has set in. She looks more like a ski lodge than a surf lodge now:(
Interview: Jamie Mulholland, On His Big Cain-Luxe Opening, Why This Was His Best Summer Yet, And What’s In Store For His Team

Jamie Mulholland has always managed to stay ahead of the curve. Whether it’s turning the eastern most tip of the island into the hottest place to spend your summer, or staking out the territories of the Bahamas, and, more recently, Dubai; many just look to see what Jamie and his partner Jayma Cardosa are up to and follow suit accordingly. Goldbar has withstood the test of time in Manhattan, still managing to cater to an elite crowd of club goers, and, with the unvieling of the new Cain Luxe tonight, Jamie may be just the man needed to turn around a little block of street in Chelsea. With flip flops on and South African accent in tow, the “Bru” gives me the scoop:
Tell me about the new Cain Luxe. Did you look at other locations? How did you settle on staying put (on 27th street)?
Cain Luxe is a brand new concept. Everything’s been ripped out and we have installed a top of the line sound system that you won’t find anywhere in the city. Of course we looked at other venues, but this is such a great space. It’s over 5,000 square feet and this area is really going through a change. With the new Highline going up, and no police coming around like usual. I know that the top venues on the street are staying and the others will most likely leave. Mark my words: 27th street is going to be hot again!

Guest of a Guest Exclusive! First inside the new Cain Luxe!
Jamie Mullholland was in flip flops today when I met with him. He’s trying to hold on to summer as well.
Fitting for the piece I just did, as I showed him this on his computer. It was indeed strange sitting with the charming South African in his office atop Cain, instead of the deck outside at Surf Lodge. I was there for a tour of his newest project, CAIN-LUXE, and upon seeing him, wanted to step into a time machine and go back to this day. Before the walk through of the completely gutted space started, he sat down and answered some of my questions. Is 27th street REALLY worth it? Did you look elsewhere? Well, yes of course, he did, but he also assured me that the space was too good not to redo, and, that the new Cain would set waves through the city, sound waves for starters. Plus, 27th street is having its revival didn’t you know? (more on this later).
Jamie and his partner Jayma are giving Cain, the club which helped define 27th street, a major makeover. Best described as “Paris meets South Africa”, the space is “art deco, it’s decadent, think mohair and brass.”

A grade A gentleman like Luigi Tadini deserves a super special birthday celebration. Though he’s nowhere close to being a Leo (he’s actually an Aries), we all missed his big 25th milestone in the Spring. Sunday night’s “un-birthday” party at The Surf Lodge in Montauk more than made up for it. Besides the amazing menu courtesy of Sam Talbot, the sweet voice of Bebel Gilberto, and the picture perfect sunlight, a dozen of his closest friends were there to help him toast his Quarterlife.

Even Moby loves Montauk’s new hotspot, Surf Lodge. I was so happy to read this article on chef Sam Talbot in the New York Times last Friday. Sam, and the entire Surf Lodge team, deserve all of the respect in the world. As far as the locals and others that claim the place is ruining the vibe of Montauk, I say be happy. Where else in town can you go see Moby, The English Beat, and Bebel Gilberto all in one weekend FOR FREE?!?!

Well I finally did it…I had a slumber party at Surf Lodge. The bed was so comfortable that I almost didn’t get up. Alas, the coconut coffee and sun drenched deck had my name written all over them. Stephanie Wei is here with me…she’s still sleeping for hopefully a lot longer. We have a BIG day ahead of us (big weekend for that matter), and I need her to be on her A game.

I already made it clear that I’m in love with Surf Lodge…especially because they would never CHARGE you for a table there. However, this photo still rings true with our “best $2k” theme of the day. It’s actually even better because this young fellow got all of the benefits of partying with Rhett Miller last Sunday, without having to unload tons of cash.

This week our worldly traveler spills the dirt on V1 seaplanes and Sam Talbot…
Dreams do come true…this week I hopped a V1 Jet seaplane to Montauk…with Sam Talbot. (You know, the Surf Lodge chef - who just happens to be very handsome in addition to his talents in the kitchen.) It’s not everyday I get a morning phone call offering me a flight from NYC to Montauk, a trip that with zero traffic takes 3 hours! I am blessed with good friends and they always think of me, so off I went to 23rd street and the East River to meet my pilot and board my 40 minute flight to the Hamptons. I arrived to see a perfectly safe and moderately-sized seaplane drifting in the water.

I wonder if the other glasses are jealous…because these lucky chosen ones are going to have a fun life ahead of them housing sweet summer drinks held by fashionable Hamptonites….
