The importance of a good weave was duly noted last night in Chris Rock’s film, “Good Hair.” Inspired by his daughter when she asked “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” Rock decided to delve into the black cultural phenomenon of the importance of “good hair.” Following the screening at the IFC Center hosted by The Cinema Society and Target, Adrien Grenier, Amber Rose, Rachel Zoe, Fern Mallis, Andrew Saffir, Andrew Bevan, Laura Brown, Jessica Joffe, Genevieve Jones, Joey Jalleo, Jennifer Missoni, Nia Long, Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz, and Ice T headed over to The Standard for the after party. The newly opened High Line welcomed many a stroller enjoying both the beautiful weather and the very first street festival of the elevated walk, sponsored by Target. Weaving through the west side’s architectural marvels, the fair featured some impressive balloon creations, face painting, bands and artists. The event was not only an inaugural one for the new outdoor activity favorite, but also marked the 75th anniversary of the High Line itself. More»
NYC Prep, Episode 2: “Flip of The Hair”
Even though born and bred Upper East Sider Ariel Moses swore she would never watch the inane Bravo show NYC Prep, I somehow talked the Horace Mann and Columbia educated New Yorker into submitting herself to the incessant nonsense that is the Gossip Girl knock-off. Afterall, being a transplant, I could never fully understand what these kids were talking about (besides that they sounded like absolute idiots… am I allowed to say that about 16 year olds?). And what better way for Ariel to express her true feelings about the “real”ity show than on Twitter! C’

[Picture via WWD] “From Blogs to Twitter Fashion World Rushes to Tap Into Social Media” read WWD’s cover this morning. Usually one of my top sources for fashion news, I was gravely disappointed to see that their leading story was something anyone with a laptop, an email address, and who knows how to type a sentence in 140 characters or less has known for quite some time. They did, however, further break down what companies are succeeding from entering the blogosphere instead of just informing us on fun facts More»

[Adrian Grenier. All photos by DAVID CROTTY for PMc]. As the hours until tax day dwindled, Big Red Sun hosted the incredibly timely celebration of accessible fashion as Loomstate launched its new, organic clothing line for Target. Adrian Grenier, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Faris, Kristen Bell, Debi Mazar, Camilla Alves, Dita Von Teese, Amber Valletta, Amy Smart, Jaime Pressly, Jaime King, Anna Paquin, Kate Mara, Taryn Manning, Angela Lindvall and Josie Maran were among the environmentally responsible who gathered in sunny (*sigh*) Venice, California, for a first look at the collection. This commercial came on NBC last night in between Olympics gymnastics. It caught my attention. I make no secret of my love of Target. This company rocks.
Also, I wish that my college roommate and I were this coordinated.
Target (or Tar-Jeh as my family calls it) can be a pretty groovy store if it’s the right one (and not a Tar-ghetto)….Location has a lot to do with it, as does timing (when you go), but there have been numerous time where I have found amazing staples at prices that even the Hamptons’ Super Saturday Tents can’t compete with. The dress I was wearing below on Plum TV is one such “bargain” and can be found at your local Target store (or, for us Manhattanites, HERE).
It’s the GO International® Kimono Dress in Ebonyand can be yours for only $34.99. More»
