Bantam, Stanton Street’s newest bar, can be easily missed due to its small and clandestine store front. From the street, nothing is revealed besides for a neon lit “17” that is installed above the door. But like its boxing-based definition, “small but powerful,” Bantam is the new hip hub of partners Scott Hockens, Seamus Regan, Norman Reedus, and Amit Zaman.
The owners of Bantam pride themselves on the exclusive nature of their new lounge. Last night Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin hosted the VIVA GLAM MAC event, Alex Rodriguez, Bar Refaeli, and Hilary Rhoda celebrated at Indochine for J Mendel's after party, Guns N' Roses played at Webster Hall, Jenne Lombardo, Lindsey Wixon, and Kate Foley got their own table at Acme for the Last Magazine party, and so much more! Last night, Heidi Klum and Lindsay Lohan attended the amfAR gala at Cipriani, Gilt Group founders Alexis Maybank and Alexandra Wilkis were honored at the Fashion 2.0 awards ceremony, Abbey Lee gave a special performance at the Electric Room, Minka Kelly and Christie Brinkley were among the many stars that unveiled the Heart Truth's collection of red dresses, and so much more. Gone are the days of the "All You Can Drink" birthday specials for beer enthusiasts at the shuttered Stanton Public. In it's place Noel Ashman and company are opening a new lounge in what they consider NYC's next hot neighborhood for night crawlers.
Last night I attended a pre-opening construction party at Ashman's new spot The Elsinore. The party was true to theme as the space is still very raw (you close the bathroom doors by placing the latch into a hole in the wall), leaving much to the imagination in terms of what the finished product will look like. It's Fashion Week though, so plywood stall doors be damned, you gotta throw a party! More»
