Jeanne-Claude, who along with her husband Christo was responsible for giving some of the world’s most important landmarks makeovers in the name of art, has died. She helped create installations in Berlin, in Paris, and in Japan, but here in New York she will be most remembered for The Gates in Central Park. More»

Sparklers, confetti, bottles and bottles of champagne, The Gates packed from wall to wall; no, it’s not New Year’s yet. It’s just Hammer’s birthday. Who is Hammer? Very valid question…

The Gates hosted a private party Wednesday night featuring Matthew Williamson’s 2009 Autumn/Winter collection with designs suited for the cold months ahead, a refreshing change from the Spring/Summer collections currently on the runways. Sorry 2010 Fashion Week, but we have six months to go before we can start wearing what you have to offer… More»

Sandra Long, Patrick McDonald, Dorian Baldwin[All photos by JP PULLOS for PMc]. Prolific host The Gates partnered with Nancy Donahue and Harry King for a 70’s and 80’s Fashion Reunion Party, last night.  Tuesday is as good a night as any to head out to a club for a little dancing and decade-centered theme, so it’s no surprise the guests look happy lounging in the 8th Avenue digs and hitting the floor to show off the moves. Hilary DuffThanks to some of our lovely tipsters, we told you about Gossip Girl’s Tuesday filming in Chelsea while it was in progress. Now we have the snaps, showing our favorite college bound crew in 20’s garb, complete with pearls and sequin flapper dresses. The set jumped between The Gates and 25th street between 7th and 8th. This season’s frequent guest Hilary Duff is still very much a part of the show, keeping us guessing about the love, trouble or filler she’s going to play. XOXO. More»

Some kids want to be astronauts, firemen, or teachers when they grow up. Others simply want to be Tabloid Whores. Lucky lucky America! Last night, the most notorious fameballers in the city gathered together at The Gates for “Who Wants To Be A Tabloid Whore“,  where they commiserated about the difficulties of losing all self-dignity for attention.  Justin Ross Lee was there, and, as promised, was more than happy to give away autographed photos of himself to our Newsletter Contest winner. There’s still a month until the ultra-swank Point Suite Art Ball takes over the Studio 450 Penthouse, but artist-organizer Annika Connor decided to get the ball rolling and the folks mingling with Tuesday’s pre-party at Chelsea’s newest hotspot, the Gates. More story and photos below… More»

You’ve heard about JRL. It’s hard to explain what exactly the fameball does (beyond being just generally obnoxious), but he just keeps popping up. Bridgehampton Polo might want none of him, but tomorrow he’ll be the man of the hour for the Tabloid Whore party at The Gates. People in this city love splashing the pages of weeklies, so Simply Chic PR is bringing all the gossipers, scandals, breakups, makeups and cr-tch flashers together for an evening hosted by the internet “don’t.” The best part? We’re going to put a lucky newsletter reader at JRL’s exclusive table!!!!
