Well, summer is officially over, but that doesn't mean The Summer Of Live Music is anywhere close to being done. The fact is, hot weather in September is nothing new, and that means that there's a plethora of outdoor concerts, weekend festivals, rare touring acts, and innovative shows to keep us all occupied from now until the World Series. Enough, in fact, that we couldn't in good conscience let you go through the week without a comprehensive guide. So whether you're angling to check out My Morning Jacket on their three-day stand at The Wiltern or JJAMZ representing in San Pedro for the Lobster Festival, just make sure you get out of the house, and Go See A Show! Why is it worth reading Guest of a Guest L.A. every single day? Well, obviously our often hilarious insider coverage of the hottest parties, shows and events in town, but also, what about exclusive opportunities to win fabulous prizes? Yes, that's a good reason as well. For example, if you happened to be poking around our site last week, you might currently be in the running to win tickets to both HARD Summer and tonight's Nylon + Starbucks Frappucino Summer Music Tour with Neon Trees and opening acts Penguin Prison and JJAMZ. Let's pick a winner! More»
The worst thing about all the great live music rolling through L.A. this summer is that there's just not enough time, or money, to see every single show. So that's why we're so happy to make your concert ticketing budget one step easier, by teaming up with Island Def Jam to give away a pair of tickets for Monday night's Neon Trees show at The Wiltern, including an exclusive VIP meet-and-greet opportunity with the band! Read on for the incredibly easy way you can enter! More»
Another week in June means another lineup of fantastic live music for you to see in the L.A. area. Whether you want to enjoy this lovely summer weather with a show amongst the elements under the stars or prefer the historic rock and roll grit and grime of a small venue like The Troubadour for your music experience, the next several days have something for everyone. And we've gotten the hard part out of the way for you by creating this handy guide to L.A.'s best live music this week, so just do it and go see a show! More»
Thank heaven you guys hate taking the night off, because, as we tell you every week, there are ever fewer opportunities to do so as the Summer Of Live Music rolls onwards. This week, we bring you moody new wave soundscapes at everyone's favorite cemetery/performance space, classic subversive funk-metal, soulful acoustic guitar, and even one very angry, very large white rapper. Simply put, no matter what genres you are, or aren't, into, you're in for a treat this week, so why not make tonight the night that you Go See A Show? More»
So, who saw some great live music this Memorial Day weekend? There was certainly plenty to choose from, and if you stayed in town (or even if you jaunted off to Vegas), the odds are you couldn't help but drunkenly stumble into some sort of street festival, live performance pool party, or whatever the hell combination of those two things Summertramp was. But, as we always tell you in this space, we really hope you didn't completely exhaust yourself grooving down with The Roots or fist-pumping in Nevada, because the next seven days of live music in L.A. are going to hit hard. We're talking everything from one of the feuding-est arena rock bands of all time (no, not you, Oasis) to Basque-influenced folktronica to a three-night stand at the El Rey for an ever-controversial hipster princess. So drop what you're doing and Go See A Show!
