Guests at Vanity Fair's opening night dinner hosted by Graydon Carter, Robert DeNiro and Ronald Perelman were seen fashionably flouting the weather by donning umbrellas on their way to the NY State Supreme Courthouse where the party was held. "If you think you're lost, you're lost. If you think you're a winner, you're a winner."
...said Palden Gyatso, as he was trying to explain to us the secret to his inner strength. What he was trying to say was that, contrary to his surroundings, he never thought that he was "losing" this game called life, and so carried on living even through oppression and hardship that most of us will never be able to picturalize. I hung onto his words (translated to us) like they would hold the portal to the secrets of life. And don't you know, it turns out that they do....

Who better to get style tips for your prom from than Heatherette. Together with Lydia Hearst (who, just last night won the Supermodel of the year award at the Michael Awards).
It's not the first time (or the last) that these two have combined forces, Lydia has been a model for Heatherette for numerous shows. She must love to play dress up as much as me, though I'm not sure a senior at my highschool could have pulled off some of these creations from the Heatherette line...

When I think of pirates, I typically think of a.) Jack Sparrow or b.) the men in the Caribbean that may sway drunkenly from too much rum, but actually do raid boats, kill people and are actually scary. When Attorney General Andrew Cuomo thinks of pirates, he thinks of the sketchy guys holding up camcorders in the movie theater and later selling homemade DVDs out of their giant jackets in the streets. Hence the new "Piracy Protection Act" to protect against movie pirating.
The Tribeca Film Festival events are less than a week away. I’ve been spending my spare minutes soaking in the trailers, my picks so far being Elephant Garden (sort of sexy/spooky), Sita Sings the Blues (Indian/humor/fairy tale), and, the most heart wrenching one for me, The New Boy, which is the story of an African boy who is forced to move to Ireland as a refugee, and the challenges that ensue when being thrust into westernized culture. Having finished Egger’s What is the What not long ago, the stories of newly westernized persons adjusting to our overwhelming, (mostly) peaceful, though competitive culture always makes me hyper aware of just how nutty our society is.
