Apparently Valentine's Day has turned into Valentine's Week. Whether you're single, taken, or somewhere in between, there's a party for everyone this year!

With Inauguration weekend finally upon us, our calendar page is absolutely overflowing with events to satisfy your three days of freedom. So even if you didn't snag an invite to the Obama's, check out the coolest events for the rest of us regular people in this week's edition of The Playground! More»

[More added 1/17--check the last slides] With bars open until 4am and politicos ready to party, there will be a lot going on to celebrate Obama's second Inauguration. Even if you missed out on the official ball tickets from the Presidential Inauguration Committee, there are still a lot of events you won't want to miss (in fact, most of the ones here will be better parties, period)! Balls come and go every 4 years, so pay attention to learn what's hot and what's not for 2013.

The Obamas and Bidens have been invited to basically all of the events listed here. They are only obligated to show up to the two official balls but just might pop in when you least expect them to...

On Saturday night, Andre Wells, largely regarded as one of the best event planners in Washington, threw an opulent Costume Gala at the Decatur House.

We're used to spotting Andre around town dressed to the nines in a suit, so seeing the 2009 Washingtonian Magazine Style Setter totally nail an RGIII costume was just too fantastic for words. More»

Perhaps one factor in the recent low unemployment report could be traced to Vocus, a software/PR company which hired hundreds of new employees at their open house on Thursday. Vocus, which operates out of a Google-like campus in Beltsville, hosted close to 1,000 applicants for seminars, interviews and dinner in rooms with names like "Side Burns," "Bob's Garage," "Felicia's Flower Shop" and "Surf Shop."
