There's no such thing as a meaningless championship, but a rare or unlikely title has a special significance all its own. So while L.A. was pretty bummed out that their beloved Lakers suffered their second straight ignoble playoff exit, I'd say you guys got an even greater gift, as the L.A. Kings overcame 45 years of frustration on Monday to finish off the New Jersey Devils and win their first ever Stanley Cup title. And from the look of the adoring crowds that showed up yesterday to cheer on their downtown parade and Staples Center rally, Kings fever may have come on quickly, but it's not going away anytime soon. Even if you don't really pay attention to hockey, you probably already know that your L.A. Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-1 last night to capture their first Stanley Cup Championship in franchise history.
