In Manhattan, $584,000 will get you a 900 square foot 2-bedroom condo in East Harlem. In Detroit, the same price just bought an 80,311 seat stadium and the adjacent 127 acres. More»

Everyone loves to hate douchebags. This handy guide on the left of d-bags by region in the U.S. gave us the motivation to create our own guide of d-bags by region in NYC. New Yorkers, in particular, get off on mocking tourists, weekend warriors and other interlopers too uncool to pass for legit city folk. But those who live in glass condos shouldn’t throw stones.

Last night, Paul Kasmin hosted a fabulous birthday party for his friend and client, renowned artist Kenny Scharf. Scharf is known for his distinct and recognizable colors and style, incorporating pop culture, cartoons imagery, and dizzying, vivid patterns into his work. Many of Scharf’s friends came out to celebrate, including David Byrne, Cindy Sherman, Carlo McCormick and Liam and Patrick McMullan. The night began with a dinner at Il Passatore in Williamsburg, followed by drinks and dancing at Scharf’s Brooklyn studio, surrounded by neon paint splatter, day-glo decor, and appropriately chromatic company.

88 Drummers have 88 minutes to bring us 88BoaDrum tonight on Williamsburg’s waterfront.  The show starts at 8:08 (of course!) on this the 8.8.08….

The Japanese noise group did 77 Boadrum last year (go HERE for YouTube of this event), but have stepped things up a bit tonight.  They got Nike Sportsware to sponsor the event, who has also produced commemorative (and free to all ticket holders) ‘88BoaDrum NSW Tee Collection’ shirts for the occasion.

hanging babies

There are two baby dolls hanging from a traffic light pole on the corner of Kenmare and Bowery. WTF is this? Does anyone have any information that would make us less creeped out than we are? We have to work a block away from this. Could the Williamsburg Sneaker/Baby Doll Hanging prankster be coming to Manhattan? Even though it’s probably a prank, you have to admit it’s still kind of creepy…
