[Go HERE for Part I of what we think Travel & Leisure was wrong about!]
'Sampling bias' refers to when the group of people chosen to conduct a survey or research study do not represent the full group that is supposedly being studied. For example, if we published a study called "LA's Favorite Bars," and then we only interview the drunk 16-year olds puking outside the Key Club, you might read it and end up thinking that the consensus best bar in LA is a K-Town grocery store that doesn't ask for ID when they sell Four Loko. This concept also applies to Travel & Leisure Magazine, and their "America's Favorite Cities" survey which I feel was off on more than a few key points. More»
Kanye West continued his trend of holding 'Free, "Secret" Not-Really-Secret" concerts in NYC last night with a Heineken sponsored show in an old Brooklyn Savings Bank at One Hanson Place. The venue, with 63 ft ceilings, set the tone of grandeur, and flashing lights sets the stage. If you missed it, here's video from the show! More»
via la.guestofaguest.com The Hamptons can be a mysterious place for an outsider. Our LA Editor, Emily Green, spent some time in Montauk, and more specifically at The Surf Lodge, where she was baffled by the lack of actual surf. (It's ok, we understand.) Check out what else Emily learned in her travels on the east coast. MORE>>>
via la.guestofaguest.com: Our amazing LA editor, Emily Green, was in New York last week. The born and bred Los Angelite started out "in some hippie-dippy weekend retreat," otherwise known as Montauk, hit the Jane, ate food off someone's table and made some discoveries. But nothing could prepare her for Williamsburg shirtless-ness. MORE>>>
I was kind of DL about it so you may not have realized that I spent all of last week on the other side of the country for some quality time in our sister city and with team GofG NYC. During my trip, I got some great insight into what NYC life in the summer is all about and furthered my studies of the region as a born and bred Los Angelite. Starting out in some hippie-dippy weekend retreat, a place called Montauk, which is literally the furthest end of the Hamptons, and figuratively the furthest thing from Beverly Hills, and then back in Manhattan proper, I had another wonderful set of New York adventures since my last trip in December. I took much away from my time on the right coast, so, without further ado, here are some more things this Angeleno learned about NYC living. More»

It is not a good day to be a young, trendy Brooklynite. Free subway rag Metro ran the headline "Hipsters to Blame for Census Losses?" this morning, blaming kids who dig AnCo for potentially losing the city billions by not filling out how many members are in their household. And now this black rimmed glasses shattering piece of statistical data has hit the Internet: Minnesota has more hipsters than NY! More»

Hipsters put on their best plaid shirts to kick off the summer at Good Company with PAPER Magazine last night, enjoying the bar's outdoor area and partaking in the Crystal Head vodka open bar. The mag's Mickey Boardman made it out before, according to his Twitter, hitting the Soho Grand and the last Beige Party at B Bar. Was it worth the trek to the 'Burg? Looks like it. More»
