If you think Hello Kitty is just for little kids, it may have been a while since you've been shopping. The aggressively cute Japanese character, which by some reports is the second most recognizable cartoon in the world (behind, obviously, a certain Jonas Brother-abusing mouse), is so firmly embedded in global consumer consciousness that her image appears on everything from jewelry made by Kimora to, um, "personal massagers." So it's really only natural that Sanrio-inspired street art would get its moment in the sun, courtesy of the gallery/book launch party for "Hello Kitty Hello Art!" that went down on Saturday at Known Gallery. Did we mention that The Ders was there?
Generally I would not be happy about giant boners pointed in my direction in broad daylight on Sunset Strip. That could get weird and mean trouble. True to Workaholics form, the Comedy Central Workaholics SXSW House Party was chock full of kegs, beer pong, rappers, rockers, stage diving, moshing, inflatable dinosaurs and women, dads, and brownies... the legal kind of course. The cast of every stoner's favorite television show showed up, including Anders Holm, Adam DeVine, Blake Anderson, and Kyle Newacheck, posing for photos with fans and chugging beers alongside the rest of the partygoers. Last night Comedy Central held a party at Brooklyn Bowl for the new show Workaholics. Anders Holmes, Blake Anderson, and Adam Devine star in the program directed by Kyle Newacheck and were on hand to talk to fans, put on a live performance, make dick jokes and screen the first episode titled "Piss and Shit."
