Eden Lounge opened their doors on Saturday for a wet and wild day party that featured the musical stylings of DJ ATS, DJ Dase, DJ Nick Rouner, and Epoch. The sun was shining bright on Eden's rooftop and everyone was stoked to play summer in April with beach balls and aviators. Amidst all the champagne foam and confetti chaos, we spotted Wu Tang Clan founding member GZA. He was likely celebrating his successful show at the historic Howard Theatre the night before. More»

In his meteoric rise to fame over the last four years, 21-year-old Odd Future frontman Tyler The Creator has made a habit of doing or saying pretty much whatever borderline-insane shit pops into his head, from bum-rushing the stage and getting choke slammed at a Gucci Mane show to responding to Canadian indie rockers Tegan & Sara's thoughtful, well-developed criticism of his lyrical content with a single tweet. Whether or not you approve of his particular brand of lunacy, he's bigger than ever, as evidenced by this Cobrasnake gallery of his Odd Future collective's headlining gig at the Paid Dues Festival this weekend in San Bernardino. The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will air this Sunday, February 12, and like most awards shows, will probably be mostly pretty boring to watch. Quick, name the first thing you associate with Staten Island. Angelina aka Dirty Little Hamster from "Jersey Shore"? Shame on you. There's only one correct answer, and it's Wu-Tang Clan, one of the most influential hip-hop groups of all time. Aside from being single-handedly responsible for the beautiful griminess of mid-90's East Coast rap, the Wu has displayed shocking longevity, with an impressive array of group and solo albums, not to mention the myriad other ventures that individual group members have embarked upon. This weekend, they tore it up at Club Nokia. Hopefully you still have your Wu Wear jeans? More»

Just because awards season has grabbed this town by the you-know-whats does not mean there aren't still plenty of other cool things to do for those of us whose invites to the Grammys and Oscars got lost in the mail. Yesterday, Rock the Bells came to the Merriweather Post Pavillion and treated concert goers to a day-long hip hop festival. Headliners included A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, and Ms. Lauryn Hill, who has been virtually invisible to the public for over a decade. More»
Now that I have given myself the proper amount of time to just sit and let it sink in, I am finally ready to talk about the latest album released from my not-so-secret crush, Gregg Gillis – better known as Girl Talk.
Girl Talk released his fourth album, Feed the Animals, via download on June 19th – and I have been nothing shy of blown away. I had been fairly certain that nothing would ever be able to touch his previous album, Night Ripper, released two years ago, when he did one of the most memorable mash-ups involving Elton John and The Notorious B.I.G. Pray tell – who else has the musical know-how to see that "Tiny Dancer" and "Juicy" can transition into one another?
