Last Saturday, artist Laure Peugeot presented her large scale oil on canvas paintings and ceramic sculptures at Zev Starr-Tambor's studio in Tribeca. Attendees were a mix of downtown types, visiting Parisians (some of whom flew in for the show) and a few lurkers from the Upper East Side. The paintings, detail images of flowers, painted on a large scale up to 6 feet by 7 feet, popped off the long brick walls of the studio. As a floral painter post-Georgia O'Keefe, it is a real challenge to do images in this style. Laure pulls it off with a slightly different perspective, and attention to detail. Her knowledge of color and flowing brush stroke make the strongest of the pieces stand out.
