Sweden

SwedenStockholm is one of the prettiest cities in Europe in the summer, but the country completely transforms into a winter wonderland when it snows. There are a variety of things for everyone to do, starting with a lively city break in Stockholm, where foodies can indulge in the celebrated culinary scene and lively nightlife. Stockholm’s Old Town is a great place to get lost in and explore. Make sure to visit the bustling Östermalmstorg, a food hall where you can sample some of Sweden’s best ‘street food’ including artisan hot dogs, a variety of herring-inspired snacks, and Glögg, the country’s take on mulled wine. When you find yourself getting a bit bored of Stockholm, you can start heading north to explore one of the country’s 200 ski resorts, or embark on a winter safari and spot Sweden’s ‘Big Six’ of wolverines, lynxes, musk oxen, brown bears, wolves, and moose in northern Sweden. Winter in Sweden also offers breathtaking scenery in the form of haunting northern lights in the town of Kiruna and snowcapped landscapes which can be explored on your very own dogsled.
