Ashton Kutcher Beats CNN To A Million Followers On Twitter, World Celebrates

"We are over a million. CNN is still trying to get there. And that is just how it goes," Kutcher said as he popped champagne and his friends screamed. "There are a million people that need to be thanked for this."

Last night, around 2:13 am, Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) was the first Twitter user to reach the million followers mark.  People around the world celebrated as the star beat out CNN (who passed the mark at 2:42 am).  Kutcher started the challenge against CNN saying if he won he woudl donate 10,000 mosquito bed nets to charit for World Malaria Day.  The battle raged on through the night, with live stats on multiple sites.  [CNN]
