This Friday, as nearly 4.8 million people flock to Rio de Janeiro for Carnival (arguably the biggest party on earth) DC will be hosting a Carnival party of its own at ShadowRoom.

Shadow will be decked out and decorated in a Brazilian theme, complete with dancers fully bedazzled with traditional Carnival costumes, and featuring delicious Brazilian drinks and cocktails. Friday promises to continue ShadowRoom's streak of wild parties.

Washington’s art scene continues to flourish, and we’ve noticed that nightlife plays a central role in its growing vibrancy. The harmonization of the two has encouraged the revitalization of the DC art world.

We spoke with Georgetown student Alex Crane, whose passion for art inspired her to explore outside the university bubble.  Alex is an intern at the Corcoran Gallery, but also a full-time student by day and art aficionado by night. She gives us an inside scoop on all the creativity DC has to offer after the sun goes down. Her discoveries combined with some of our own make for the ultimate DC art junkie’s going-out guide. More»

Have you run into Captain America? He is our resident superhero (and a Georgetown undergrad) that would rather put on a costume and help people than go out to a party. He has done everything from give directions to weary, lost travelers to walk drunk girls home to pose in pictures with fans.

Producer Will Rabbe recently got a few minutes of the superhero's attention when he spotted him on patrol outside of Tombs...and we're officially obsessed with this kid. Here, he discusses getting heckled by drunks, salutes some citizens, impresses a fan ("wow it's really him!") and reveals his real identity. The Corcoran Gallery of Art was the perfect backdrop for the 9th annual S.O.M.E. Jr. Gala this past Friday, which benefited So Others Might Eat.

The black tie optional event was filled to the brim with decked-out guys and dolls looking particularly impressive. While some were there to dance and mingle, some were there dressed to the nines, So Others Might Notice, as I certainly did as I perused the scene. More»
